Family Travel in Our Future

My husband and I are looking to buy a trailer in June. We have four children, two are young adults, two are in forth grade. We have always wanted to travel around our country, through Canada and into Mexico as well. As school teachers, we hope to spend some time each summer to show the two younger kids some of the things they have read about in their studies. Our older boys will probably want to borrow the trailer to go to festivals and camping. We currently live in Southern Arizona, but our extended family all still live in the Seattle area.We take a road trip between the southwest and the northwest each summer. The trailer will be a welcome addition to our family recreation.

Welcome to the forums!

Welcome!

You have come to the *right* place to learn all things Airstream. Camping is a great way to travel especially with the family! We traveled a lot when our kids were young and it was great.

We are retired teachers and we love our little 1963 Bambi Airstream. It is perfect for the two of us. There are quite a few threads on what to look for in buying an airstream, and whether you want to spend the big bucks and go for the new models, or spend the big time and restore a vintage model!

Here is one link to a thread that has lots of information: (Be sure and consider the length of trailer you want for both towing capabilities of your truck or car and what lengths fit where! National Forest Campgrounds often limit above 25 feet...)

While you are looking check out the rally calendar and if there happens to be a rally going on near where you live, ask if you can visit! Folks love to show their Airstreams and talk Airstream ~ you will get lots of ideas and see many different styles and years that way!

Good luck in your search. Be sure and check out our classifieds here on the forum.

Mrs. NorCal (above) pretty much said it all, so I'll just add our welcome to the forums and wish you an exciting Airstream discovery this spring for your summer travels. I too am a retired teacher--something about these Airstreams just draws us ~G
