This is just my take on your question based on my limited experience. Airstream has not had a consistent use of model names. The best thing to do is to go to Airstream.com, under the Service tab, and go through the Document Archive. There, for most years, you can find a description of the standard features of each model. If you can't find the exact year you are interested in, try the years before and after. You can often find the price lists and could use them to determine the original list price of a trailer if you know its equipment.

In some years the Excella and Limited were separate models, with the Excella being the lower of the two levels. In later years the Limited was a trim level of Classic.

I have a 2002 Classic 30 slideout. There were two trim levels, Classic and Classic limited. PEr the Standard features for my 2002 Classic:

*The Limited Upgrade Package Includes: Burgundy Exterior Graphics/Awnings,
Hickory Wood Interior, Flag Storage Box, Acrylic Entrance Door Handle
"Limited", Brass/Acrylic Cabinet Pulls, Brass Lavatory/Shower Hardware,
Burgundy Zip Dee Chalrs, 40# LP Bottles & Cover, "Pure Touch" Filtering
Faucet w/Pull-Out Wand, Gold Accent Raised Lettering on Exterior, Acrylic
Wrap Protectors, Hardwood Tops, Jackets/caps.

I can't recall seeing a '91 'Excella', I think they are all 'Excella Classic' or 'Limited'

(I had to walk outside of my '91 to recall how to spell Excella)

I thought that was the case, but I didn't look back far enough.
