Deals keep falling through...AAARRRGGGHHH

Okay, after a huge amount of research I settled on a 2007 25' Ocean Breeze, negotiated a fair price and then the made the offer. They called me back and told me it had sold and upsold me to the 2009. The next day I called back and told the dealer I would take it. They JUST called and told me that they had sold this one as well. Evidently, they have stopped making the Ocean Breeze, which is what we had settled on...(note my username )

Anyhow, I'm unbelievably frustrated at this point...They do have a 28' Ocean Breeze, but to be honest, I think that is way more trailer than I'll ever need. Not to mention that this now changes my pricing significantly. There are just two of us who will primarily use the unit, and we will mostly be taking it out on long weekends.

I just had to share this with a group that I know will feel my sorrow ... I'm adrift now as I return back to square 1.

Dealerships have have dealer locators where they can get a unit from another dealer.
If you have the money, they should bend to get your business. More fish in the Sea
besides them!

Something is not right about this picture; seems like they're trying to upsell, in which case I'd tell them to stick it. I'd also get in touch with AS JC and tell them about this; AS is very picky about their dealers.

Sounds like upselling.

Switch to another dealer, and compare notes, but make sure the dealer has a "good" service department.

Greetings from the Florida Panhandle

I'm sorry for your misfortune. That's the kind of stuff that happens to me.

You should possibly also look on the other side of the 27FB. We have a 25FB That we have spent over 500 nights and pulled over 50,000 miles in that last three years. Lucy is our second home. We have been on the road as many as 56 days straight, and we were still very comfortable.

The right Airstream will eventually turn-up.

Brian

I hate being sold anything... and being "upsold" even more. Hold out for what you want... and find a dealer you can trust. You're not only buying a travel trailer; you are establishing a relationship... just like Andy said.

These folks are right. Make your deal, not what they tell you can have! I would even drive to get what I wanted when it came to an AS...the trip back would be sweeter!

Phone is 386-462-3039.

If they had good customer service strategy, they would offer you a newer model at half the profit margin or better.
Whatever it takes to give you a better deal than you would have gotten in the first place since they sold the unit they wanted out from under you.

Did you have any type of deposit put down?

Agreed on the upselling. They're trying to get you into a panic that if you don't act fast, everything will be gone, and get you to buy the more expensive trailer they really have on the lot.

In this economy, I highly doubt the trailers are just flying off their lot. Just take a deep breath, step back and get your bearings, and remember that there are also folks in bad situations that will probably be trying to unload their trailers.

If they aren't trying to just tweak you for more money, then they will make you a hell of a deal on that larger trailer. If they can't make the price even remotely close to what you originally agreed upon for the shorter one, move on to another dealership. When I was selling cars, we had a saying that 'Oatmeal is better than No Meal', meaning that if they want to make a sale after what they've put you through, they'll make it happen.

Been to the Alter and didn't get married

Something like that with two trailers I put money down on and they got away from me. That's what I hate about the E-bay sudden death trap where you're out bid at the last moment.

However you are waving real dollar bills out the window on a NEW state of the Airstream art trailer (not some old vintage rig like most of us). At that price-point you deserve to get what you want, and hopefully where you want. Can't believe the Flying Cloud's fly off the lots that fast.

We'll all do the victory dance when you get your baby.

Thanks for all of your comments! I took a deep breath last night at a happy hour and feel much better. My main concern with a 28' AS is that it may just be too big. I don't need the extra room (or the extra expense), I'm going to forage on. I'm really stuck on the Full Bed option, since I don't want the head next to my bed and I want a larger bed. I looked at the twin option and I could see myself rolling off of the bed in the middle of the night. I haven't slept on a twin for many moons.

If you think that a 28' is too big, don't get a 27FB as it is actually longer than a 27FB. You may need to look a little more closely at the specs. A 27FB is 28' long, and a 28 is 27'11". Go figure.

We had been looking at a 25 FB sitting on the local lot. After about a year and a half, the price started to drop as the newer units started arriving. It got right down to what we could afford and after a little more discussion, it had been sold.

We then went to the used market and watched for over a year longer until we found the trailer we wanted. Because we spent a very large sum of money (by our standards anyway) we didn't want to rush in or be pressured to purchase something we really didn't want.

While frustrating, I think waiting until something "just for you" comes around is the way to go. Folks here have given some excellent advice. I would move on to another dealer too. Good luck, it will happen.

I know you are right, but it is hard to wait

I want a 25' not a 27'...I was offered a 28', but that is just too big...The Ocean Breeze is part of the International line. I was told by the dealership that they stopped making them. They made a few in 2010, but as of today no longer are making that model. I'm surprised since I can't believe black laminates (which is what the regular International has) would be more popular. Maybe for the Osbournes, but I'm in Florida :-)
