Close to Buying...

Hi All,

I'm a new member here in search of information. I'm considering the purchase of a new 2008 Safari SE 25FB.

First, I'm looking at a unit at ABRV in the Salt Lake City area - does anyone have experience with this dealer? This is the only Airstream dealer in Utah. They seem nice so far. This dealer is colocated with a Camping World, which seems handy.

Next, a 2008 Sequoia will be my tow vehicle. It has the factory tow package and is rated for 9600 pounds - which seems like it will be plenty. I will be towing mostly in the Rocky Mountains. Is anyone towing a late model 25 with this vehicle?

Thanks to all for any help. I've been lurking on this forum for the past couple of months - there is a ton of great information here.

Before you buy the 25, look at the 27. I bought the 25 before the 27's came out and I've come within a hair of trading up more than once. I fulltime, which makes the bigger closet to drool for. The slide out microwave is a pretty nice feature too IMHO, but most of all I like the front to back queen. I curse every week when I have to change the sheets in mine, because there really isn't room to walk around on the side next to the front window.

Sorry I'm on the wrong coast to help you with the dealer, but don't be afraid to travel several hundred miles for a good one. Knowledge and commitment to the brand make a heck of a difference in post-sale satisfaction.

Welcome from the Florida Panhandle

First off, welcome to the Forums. We're glad to have you with us.

We have a 2005 25FB, named Lucy, who we have spent almost 300 nights in, and have pulled her 32,000 miles. The floor plan works for us (two adults, no kids, no pets), and we run our business out of Lucy while on the road.

We tow with our two 2500 Suburbans, but a properly set up Sequoia should do OK.

A bit more info on me.

The Airstream will be occupied by me, my spouse, and our young child (7). We like the FB models because they split the area into two distinct spaces. The slide out couch will sleep the kid for many years to come, and then the dinette after that.

We will primarily use it on weekends with plans for a couple of long trips (a week or a bit more) a couple of times a year. We've had a smaller model for a bit and love the luxurious camping - we come from the back-packing / car / tent camping crowd - but the cuteness of a small model has worn off and it's time for a little more room.

We have looked at both the 25 and the 27 and had a hard time deciding. But I actually prefer the sideways bed. Lets you take advantage of the panaromic windows while laying on your backside . The extra closet space and slide out microwave on the 27 would be nice, though.

I'm jealous of the 300 nights - wish I could pull that off. Pesky guys at work actually expect me to show up to get a paycheck.

There was a recent thread on dealers in my area - I can't recall any negative posts on any nearby dealers, so hopefully I'm in good hands.

Welcome to the Forums...glad you joined up and are about to become new Airstreamers...both models are very nice...I'm sure if anyone has had a negative experience with the dealer you are working with you'd hear about it here...but you might check the Better Business Bureau in your area to check for issues.

Be sure to get a complete walk through and that you ask all the questions you have... and make sure they fix anything that needs to be dealt with at the get-go. The service you receive after you've bought is what is going to be most important to you!

If they don't work out there are others in the western states that have good reps...

Hope to see you down the road!
