Clearcoat

Hello,
We are new owners of a 1999 25ft. Safari.

We have never owned an Airstream before but always wanted one. We have owned a travel trailer and enjoyed it until it rotted!!

One of our questions is re: Clearcoat, does anyone out there have experience repairing peeling spots ?

Any other Airstream advice would be appreciated : )

Welcome to the forum.

I have been told that Airstream dealers sell small cans of clearcoat touch-up spray. I have no doubt that, with appropriate surface prep, good results can be achieved.

BOTOH, although this subject has been broached before, I have yet to see anyone actually post a picture of pleasing results.

Does anyone have before & after pictures to share of clearcoat touch-up?

Tom

Congrats on your new Airstream.

Clearcoat is a recurring thread, and allot has been written about it. Try searching on "Clearcoat" for a wealth of info.

rnielsen, welcome! Sorry, I won't be much help on the clearcoat issue - we have the original on our '67 and it's in decent shape. Not perfect, but we'll overlook that because after all, it's an old trailer! Do check out the search feature, though - lots of good info there. Also keep an eye out for info on local forum rallies, as we have a really fun group in this area!
