Brand New Airstream Owners - 2013 27FB

The kids are mostly through college. We first saw a Airstream about fifteen years ago, was amazed, but got a Coleman tent trailer because that fit our budget. No regrets, but that Airstream always stuck in my mind. Well, hard work, saving, and luck combined.

Got it Memorial weekend. Camped a few days and now its sitting in our driveway. First thing I did is to pull the converter, various parts of cabinetry, remove the bed, to find ways to run solar wiring. My wife bought pillows, soap dispensers, and all that homey stuff. Conflict for now but soon it will tailored to us. Its already fun.

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your new rig. The 27FB is a great floor plan, we really love our 27FB Ocean Breeze.

I look forward to your reporting back on the 27FB on your experiences and modifications. We are hoping to select a dealer tomorrow to join the production que for a Classic 27FB twin without the pervasive Airstream microwave.

Congratulations! Our Airstream is a joy for my family. I hope you have the same wonderful experience as an owner. Here's a top tip: Start spraying things outside with Boeshield T-9. Take a look at older Airstreams on your dealer's lot or at campgrounds and you'll see what parts to spray -- like latches on outside compartments. You'll be glad you did. Pick it up at Sears.

Congratulations!
Your unit should be pre-wired for solar. I believe Airstream to runs the wires up a closet wall in the outside corner by the door. They put the controller and the inverter switch by the door on the closet wall.
I have a new solar system for sale in the classifed section. It includes all the electric items you need.
