Belated intro

This is my formal hello to all of you.I've recently bought a 2005 19ft.CCD,however,I've been reading this forum for many months.I must say I was a bit wary of buying new after so many tales of problems both large and small. But so far so good. After one short shakedown run, everything works as it should. No shower leaks,no missing rivits.I could nitpick about some fit and finish issues, but actually,it really is a fantastic unit.We bought it mainly to use locally. The coastal parks in summer and our beautiful desert in the winter, both boondocking and hooked up.After reading the generator debates,we decided to keep it simple and go without. We like staying in it so much, we may take it 15 minutes down the road to Dixon Lake for a couple days.Would that be a record short haul to go camping?

Congrats on a great decision and on adding to the long list of Airstreams that will one day fall into the hands of us Vintage lovers! We hope you love your AS so much that when you tire of travel, you'll put it in a barn because you can't stand to sell it and 20 years later my kids will discover it and "rescue" it for a song.

Speaking of short trips. We just took our 19'CCD out 10 miles to the Richardson campground at Fernridge Lake just west of Eugene, OR.

It was very relaxing not having to worry about a long drive to or from camping.

Airstream barn

I do plan on building a barn to house it.The sun here is pretty intense and I don't want to fry it in the summer.Maybe some day it will be discovered in the barn in pristine condition and end up on Ebay!

Travel pets

ZoominC6,
Does your Tonkinese travel with you? We have two cats who wouldn't think of leaving the yard.

She does and really adapts well. It could be that we picked her up on a Fla. trip when she was a kitten and the Airstream is like home to her. She travels well and gets along with our two dogs famously. We'll be taking her and one of the dogs to Highland Haven Airstream Park in VA in a couple of weeks.
