Wink Babe in 2005 Intl CCD

Howdy - I'm approaching my 1-year anniversary in my 28" Intl. CCD with all the trimmings. Never imagined myself in one of these silver pods, but life circumstances intervened & this is what i can afford as a full-timer in Northern California, working as a "freeway flyer" professor (translation: university lecturers who are hired on semester contracts, and who often end up traveling significant distances to teach at >1 university simultaneously).

Well, my long-haired chihuahua seems to have accepted the new digs, and i finally got the drip-irrigation system going in my container garden. Two solar panels hooked to a bank of 6 batteries and a 600 watt inverter provide 90% of my electricity needs (the few appliances of >600w are hooked into the grid), and my composter provides garden dirt. High-speed DSL makes it easier to work from home, and a storage annex down the street makes the rest of my life function as well.

I'm looking forward to sharing helpful lifestyles tips with other Airstream owners, and wish everyone a healthy & happy 2007.

Hello, Welcome and Congratulations!

Hello JMP Intn'l and welcome to the forums. Congratulatations on your choice of Airstream. Sounds like the silver pod will fit your unique lifestyle very well.

As you can see, there are a variety of personality types and lifestyles utilizing this forum. I've searched all around the internet and this is absolutely the best place to find information relating to Airstreams. There are other forums that can be useful but is the best, most complete information source.

If you are able to hook up with other Airstream owners I'm sure you'll have a good time. We all have that love for the product. It's brand loyalty like I never experienced before - it's almost a religion.

Heh, neighbor! I live pretty near you and lots of the people at my company (Genentech - Vacaville Operations) went to school at Davis or live there now.

My wife and I bit the bullet in October last year and acquired a 19' Bambi. We have been out quite a bit in it with friends and are heading to our first AS Rally in April at Cassini Ranch. There are a few spaces left. You attendning?

It is over near Ducan's Mill on the Russian River.

Hi Jerry & Avis-

Thanks for the howdy. I doubt i will ever attend a rally - not my cup of tea as a full-timer with a garden all hooked up on drip-irrigation & an overflowing professional life.

Those Bambis sure are sweet!

Lucius- thanks for the encouragement. Part of why I chose to buy into the Airstream community is because I'm big on the concept - whether it's my beloved hometown of Davis, or my academic community, or my international community of colleagues.

If you're not far from Casini Ranch when we do the rally, you could just stop by and say 'Hello'...we'd love to meet you!

Thanks for the invite Debra. I'll see if I can borrow a vehicle (I gave up the car when I gave up on the husband) and get myself over to the Ranch.

Welcome and sorry to hear about the problem with the relationship with the car it is time to have a real relationship get a truck. A truck will never let you down and take you and your Bambi anywhere you want to go.
