Another new/old guy
Hello to all,
I think it came to me about 10 years ago. I was sitting in my living room talking to my oldest son about what he was going to do when he got out of school. The conversation turned a couple of corners and suddenly I knew I was going to sell the house and get an Airstream trailer and find that perfect break, somewhere along the pacific, with a small trailer park across the street.
There was also the idea of getting back out west, where I was born, to see some of the small towns. Read the blue highways book, years ago. I googled Chico, California and liked what I saw.
So, I am starting here. I have been lurking for some time and picking up info. I plan on going solo with a dog.
Y'all do not have to jump in with welcomes. I feel comfortable just from reading your posts.
Glad to be here,,
Steve

Hi Steve,
Welcome anyway. I have fond memories of Bradenton. I used to park my Trade Wind at a friend's house near the Tropicana plant when I was in town. Nice area, and the sun does at least set over the ocean. Should help to feel a little like the west coast.

Steve,
You are definitely a bad influence... I hear "On the Road Again" pretty clearly.....damn.
Come on out west. It is wonderful here. And so many perfect places, not just the perfect beach, but the red rocks, high mountains, and lonely deserts.

Steve: Could Sierra Nevada Ale have anything to do with Chico being so appealing? Since I use Auto Club maps the lines for the two lane roads are black...a neutral like that takes away some of the romance of the blue lines. Chico is close to one of my favorite camping spots...Eagle Lake. Northeast, in Lassen County...I give you permission to put that on your list of neat spots.
Welcome to the Forums.

Hi,
One year ago we moved from Tampa fL to Corona Ca. We now live in Riverside. Come on back, I have not been to Chico, but might try to get there.

Hi Steve,Never be afraid to run solo. I ran long haul before the days of Qualcoms & GPSs. The best advive I can give you is get a good tool box set up to work on your Tow vehicle & trailer. Don't forget test lights & a good multimeter! Make sure you have a spare tire for both the TV & TT. Get a 5 gallon container for water, some duct/gorilla tape, and paper shop towels. You'll need that if you ever pop a hose. I drove a couple hundred miles with a radiator hose duct taped back together Oh, get an extra set of belts too. My rigs run at night, & it's put them back on the road quickly. Snd don't forget a GOOD durable flashlight & extra batteries. This is off the top of my head, but it's what I consider essential gear for traveling solo.Happy Trails,Tony

A Man witha Plan!
Sounds good, Steve...any idea what Airstream you want? You gonna go old or new?
I don't know why at our age we all want to chuck our possessions and head for simplicity...maybe it's that after 30 years of acquiring things you realize that little of it is really necessary? If my retirement wouldn't be so pitiful I'd quit teaching and wag my butt down the highway too!
So just do it...and do it for the rest of us that can't get away yet!
by the way...what kind of dawg???

Greetings from the Florida Panhandle
First off, welcome anyway. We're glad to have you with us.
As you already know, this is the place for all things Airstream. Before you make a final decision on a particular Airstream, try hitting a couple of the Forums Rallies. You'll get to see Airstreams (new and old) in the flesh and talk to other 'Streamers about the ins and out of the this wonderful Airstream experience.
