Hi everyone. My name is Tim and I am from the Great White North. I live in Edmonton, Alberta with my wife and two small children. I have convinced my wife that it is time to get a trailer and start exploring not only our own country but our neighbours to the south. When we started looking at trailers, we thought we had found the perfect unit in a tent trailer. Then we started looking at hybrids and then standard trailers. During this time I could not stop thinking about vintage trailers I had started to look at a couple of years ago on the web. Both my wife and I are now convinced to go with an airstream or an argosy due to the fact it's timeless, customizable and will hopefully be in our family for many years to come. I have only recently started looking here for trailers and I'm very excited on what I see. I'm sure I will have lots of questions as time goes on and I'm relieved about there being such a forum to get those questions answered. Thanks for having me.

Welcome from North Vancouver, Tim! Is it snowing in Edmonton yet?

Be sure to check craigslist and the Buy&Sell for used trailers. They come up in BC quite frequently, so it may be worth extending your search to this province.

Welcome to the forums! You will be embarking on a wonderful journey! Looking for that perfect Airstream for your family is a great deal of fun! Time to do your homework and learn all you can so you can determine the correct size, what you want inside, and how it can "grow" with your changing family! Oodles of information here! It took us several years to find ours, but I am one happy lady! Good luck!

It sounds like you have decided to jump up the curve and skip the pop-ups. Good luck on your quest

Snowing?

Cameron, what are you talking about? It's beautiful here. 11 C (54 degrees) and only 20 mph winds . I know it's coming soon but we are trying to hold onto what's left of summer. Take care and thanks for the welcome from everyone. I'm looking forward to picking everyones brains over the next couple decades.

Question Question regarding lengths

Please don't laugh at me but, when an ad reads 1971 25' Tradewind, what is the 25' referring to? Is the overall length or living space length. I couldn't seem to find this info so far. I am asking is a transport company is asking about the length for shipping purposes. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you found something

AhHa! Looking at a vintage Tradewind, are ya! Good choice, nice size, easy to tow, can you tell I love mine?

Airstream's stated length includes the tongue. Therefore, your living space is about 4 foot less than the overall length. A 25 foot Tradewind would be about 21 feet of living space or so. So for your shipping company the total length including the tongue should be 25 feet.

I agree. The Tradewind is a great trailer! But I may be a little biased.
