And it begins........

My wife and I decided to make the jump. We purchased a 1972 Safari we found locally, in the Olympia, WA area. It is in good condition overall and even came with the stock green carpet. The trailer has been "well loved", everything is in working some form of "working" order, ie the air conditioner runs for 5 minutes before the fan stops working, there is one missing cabinet door, etc. But overall I am very pleased. According to the po we are the third owners of this cute trailer. I have been surfing the forums for a little while, getting great advice along the way and I wanted to pass on thanks!!

Congratulations on your new Airstream and welcome to the forums.

It is great that you found one that was well loved rather than the alternative, which is usually the case. You have to pay more, but it is well worth it imho.

You are right! The fun now begins. An entirely new chapter. Enjoy the ride!

The trailer looks good, but are you sure it is a 72? I could be wrong (and often am) but I thought 70 was the last year for single axle on the Safari?

Congratulations on your new purchase. There are quite a few of us Airstream owners in the South Sound, I hope you have many great adventures in your '72!

I will get some more pics posted tomorrow! I appreciate the comments.

Drag'n.....You could be right, I am a newbie to the AS world. I am going off the WA title. The VIN on the trailer matches the title, but I know the state could be wrong. The po thought it was a 76 till he pulled out the title, so there is quite a bit of confusion. I will do some googlin' with the VIN and see if I can find confirm.

More to come.

Officially 70 was the end of the safari single axle, but that does not mean much sometimes. The hatch doors do not look 70 and a few other things look to be more 72, so...? What is the serial number?

Very nice and congratulations.

It's really nice to read about someone finding an older trailer that does not require a complete overhaul.

Enjoy

Here are some quick pics. I totally dig the propane lantern just inside the door. Don't ever see using it, but it's a fun conversation piece.
