Aluminitus?

Hello Airstream People!

After following the forum for about a month I am very pleased to anounce that I to shall soon be among the ranks of proud airstream owners as I am due to adopt a shiny (new to me )77 excella. After an exaustive search I will be traveling two states over for the honor of being the second owner of this much loved trailer.
Aparently seeing little use this one still has the optional aluminum Airstream chairs still wrapped in the original plastic!
Its funny.. i was laying in bed last night thinking I have really caught the bug. Then I asked myself what that might meen. And I thought oh yeah! that must be the aluminitus bug ive been hearing about!
Glad to have it, and be here.

Welcome to the group. You'll be glad to know that you are among the ranks of others afflicted with "aluminum" bug. Looking forward to seeing pictures of your trailer. (We love pictures)

Congrats and welcome to the forum. Sounds like you found yourself a gem. Post some photos when you get a chance. Maybe you can get together with the Norcal forum group at one of their forum rallies some time. They usually go to Casini Ranch in April which is real close to you.

Thanks Streamer. That sounds like a good idea. Northern California has so much to offer I should have guessed there would be Airstreamers up here. If its set for April that would give me plenty of time to get to know my new shiny friend first.

If you can't wait 'til spring, there are a couple more Norcal rallies on the rally calendar too, one in August at the lava beds in North Eastern CA...

and one in October in the Sierra Foothills near Jackson...

Soon you'll be an Excella snob. If you need some insights, let me know. Keep the disc brakes if yours has them, you might have to get an activator to push the hydraulic unless your tow vehicle (TV) is old enough to have vacuum. Don't let anybody push electric drums on ya, I had a shop try to take my discs off, he said they were "dinasaurs".
another Excella snob, (by accident)

Holy cow, airstream chairs still wrapped up. Can't wait to hear what other gadjets you'll find that the prior owners didn't know they had. Look for a built in blender-ice crusher, and maybe a hidden safe.

Update

I have been doing the Craigslist thing. Thats how I found the Exella I was due to pick up on the first of Aug. I supose I never really considerd that the whole OBO thing potentialy swings both ways as the owner decided to bump the price up on me as the calls started rolling in. She is a sweet grandmotherly type who likes to talk. alot..... Maybe a little bit lonely and enjoying the attention. nice lady. Either way with the higher ticket price the revelation of needing to install an Acubrake and the prospect of the 24 hours of driving I decided to move on.. But Low and behold!! Im going to check out a prospect not 2 hours from me tomorrow. New grandma, less talk ,better deal.
