Aloha! Excited Rookie's going full time on the Mainland

Hi All. Ashlee & I just arrived on the mainland and are in the process of buying a 2016 Flying Cloud 25 from Knoxville TN.

We are hoping to find someone willing to inspect it as we are currently on the west coast getting ready to drive across the country to collect it!

We plan to live in the Airstream, travel around, make all the usual embarrassing mistakes, and are incredibly excited to get started!

We've already found this community extremely helpful, thank you!

To find potential local inspectors:

Go to the 'Community' drop down menu in the blue bar above,
then > 'Members List',
then > 'Search Members' in the 2nd blue bar on the right,
then > 'Advanced Search'
then fill in the 'City' & 'State' nearby the location of the potential trailer (or just State to broaden your search), and check the 'Trailer Inspector' box about mid-way down the page,

then scroll down to the bottom of the page & click the 'Search Now' button

Members that have volunteered to be inspectors will be sorted out for you to reach out to.

Good luck!

Shari

Welcome and good luck! My suggestion would be that "you" see this unit before taking delivery and avoid any potential surprises. We bought our second AS, a 2008 25'FC "twin" off ebay auction and were so excited!. Sounded like a great deal, with twin beds, 2000W solar, big battery bank, etc. Had a "knowledgeable" RV person who worked at the lot where it was on consignment, go thru it prior to our delivery and told us it was in great shape! Even said the AC worked on the batteries...he had run it for 2 hours! We drove from TX to Tucson, AZ to pick it up...that's when we discovered it had been "converted" from a Queen to twins with a DIY solar/Lithium kit installed from previous owner and looked like it had been driven to/from Alaska a "few" times with really pitted rock guards up front, and the fan filter above the stove had never been changed...smelt like old cooked bacon; wife cleaned and cleaned several times before it was not noticeable. The electric charging system would not work when the plugged into AC shore power! Needless to say, we were very disappointed, but had already paid. Just a lesson we learned wanted to share. Something this expensive, new or used, I would highly recommend you are involved with any inspection if possible.

This last summer, we actually purchased our 2015 Flying Cloud 27' FBT 'sight unseen' with the help of some local 'inspector' friends who went & looked at it before we finalized the sale.

We spoke with the seller (a private party) several times, then arranged a meeting between the seller and our friends. They met, were able to look at the trailer & give us a rundown on the very minor imperfections before giving us a 'thumbs up' on the purchase. It was a cash sale (no financing & title in hand) so we just sent them the money & the seller sent us the title. A couple of weeks later, we we took the road trip down to Texas to pick it up. The sale could not have gone smoother...we had confidence that everything was as represented - and it was.

Well, there you go...yours worked out; ours was a disappointment. My buddy also bought sight unseen on a 25; had separation around the front A frame, which was not caught during the inspection. There is no guarantee with anyone; it's "your money"...so take your chances using someone else to inspect or go see for yourself before spending "your money".

Guess the question is when buying used: Who you gonna blame if you pay upfront, and there are serious issues missed by your "inspector"? You may get your money back...or you may be out the cash and stuck. Just saying, if your comfortable with the consequences, go for it!
