Welcome Jean! Having visited your beautiful country on several occasions, I find myself reading your posts and once again longing to return. My stomach grumbles thinking of the wonderful food and wine. On our last visit, we found your countrymen to be most gracious and helpful, even apologetic in one case for the rudeness of one particular individual. While language barriers are often a problem in our overseas travels, we always find a way to communicate with those who wish to do the same. I cannot imagine how you comfortably navigate your Airstream on the narrow roads of France. Very carefully I would imagine. Have fun in your Airstream and keep the shiney side up! Possibly our paths will cross some day. It's a very small world.

I'm afraid I don't have what you call (I think) the vin number because the airstream had an "off body" restauration to be able to succed the french regulation... otherwise I would not be allowed to drive anytime ;anywhere
( electric brakes are not safe enough for us!!! if you keep them your have a special form indicating that you stay only in your area ,you must ask the police a special certificate to cross the country!!)
I'm going to ask for the vin number to the last owner
merci pour votre aide , à bientot

I have a small story that makes me believe we live in a very small world;
it happened in India.
I was sitting in a small tibetan restaurant in a small village somewhere in the himalayas...( five tables )
when suddenly somebody I did not see when entering;comes to me and ask me :do you think the food here will be as great as in your restaurant?
I had a shock
he was from toulouse and came several time to my restaurant...
we had a wonderful time talking in french ( you miss your country after 4 months in India)
nous sommes bien peu de chose....
I don't know how to translate that!

Literally, it means "we are well little of thing". Maybe more would be "the little things are best"?

Bienvenue a notre site internet, Jean-Luc!

airstream camping

hello everybody;as you all know;airstream trailers are hard to find down here,last week I had the chance to visit a camping ground close to the pyrenees ,on a nice spot, with .... eleven airstreams....... perry the owner is a specialist and he proposes to rent the trailers for a week or for one night;he's the only one in europe to propose that and I must say I was impressed by the choice he proposes and his kindness..
if you plan to come to europe ,you must visit him;you won't regret
have a look at the following address:http://www.belrepayre.com/

Salut!

Bonjour Jean Luc,

salut jean-luc

Hi jean luc ;

I'll speak to you in english because it's the rule so I'm french too;
I'm very happy you 're a new airstream owner( i suppose ) and the picture I've seen tell me you 're a french american toys lover as me ...

Welcome in the club.

I'll go this summer near Saint jean de Luz ... may be a way to meet you..; i've well noted the Perry meeting on August... why not.

Salut, à bientôt.

Bruno;

Hi Jean-Luc

Hi Jean-Luc,

Welcome to the forums. The company I work for has a plant in Marseilles what a beautiful place to live! I have visited the area many times and absolutely love the food and wine there !! I noticed that on the airstream site that Airstream is now building a trailer for European use. Has they started to sell them there yet? I also noticed you have a Gibson guitar... I have several Ovations and my prized position a Gretech Brian Setzer signature guitar. What type of music do you play?

Hey, cut the French talk!! The rest of us want to know what is being said! Nice to hear from France. I used to live in Holland and traveled all over Europe. Loved it! I haven't been back in 6 years. Mostly due to the radical Muslim threat to an American walking the streets. I hope someday to return, if I live that long. Bill

I'm sorry for my last post in french;I was just saying hello to the french speakers in quebec( I don't forget cajun people ; my cousins ) and answering the question: did you travel through europe with your airstream?
my answer is : not yet , my excella is just a big kitchen and I'm not allowed to sleep inside!

Couldn't resist writing in french

I can't believe your roulotte is a kitchen! But then again I'm probably going to use mine as a sewing/knitting studio for the summer. And as a margarita hot spot on friday nights

I love to associate my favorite sight(airstream) with my favorite smells (a reblochon, "chambré juste à point"(untranslatable), fresh coffee, bouillabaisse, and all that fine french cookin'.
