A new Member - 65 Globetrotter
Hi, I am a new member & an owner of a 1965 GlobeTrotter purched on e-Bay in Nov. of 2007. I am a retired Toy & Hobby Store owner for 45 years in Palm Springs CA. I plan on restoring & will need lots of your help. Here in Palm Springs we do lots of photo shoots for Fashion Mags. & TV ads & the Airstream has already been involved with a couple of shoots. Seems they like this old one.
Thank You
Uncle Don

Hey Don,
Welcome to the world of "Stemi'n".
As you've probably read, we have a lot of streamers here in SoCal and as a matter of fact, we're having a notreallyarallyrally on the 1st of February weekend at San Clemente, Ca. There will be about 30 or so of us and it would be great to have everyone meet you and you can get some great tips as to the resurrection of your AS. check out the rally page. In any case,
Welcome.

UncleDon, Welcome to the forums! As a former toy store owner you already know that lots of things become collectables and cost lots of $ to hoard! This '65 is only the beginning. You now have been infected with Aluminitis. There is no known cure. Resistance is futile. Happy Trails, Ed

Welcome to the forums and the world of Airstreaming!
Your trailer is a "keeper"! Please post some pictures and let us know what you intend to do as far as repairs, etc. We can direct you to "answers"! Everyone here is full of advice!
My hubby and I bought our 1963 Bambi on ebay and had a great experience. He spent 9 months restoring her from the ground up. Here is his thread with lots of questions/pictures/answers you might find interesting ~ or at least let you know what good times you may have ahead!
http://www.airforums.com/forums/f36/...mbi-17925.html
Be sure to attend a rally right away, with or without trailer in tow! You will meet great folks and find out lots of information to assist you with your new project.

Welcome, Don ... and great choice of trailer! I'm a new owner of the same year model, so I'll be interested in seeing how your project proceeds. There's more information on this site than you can read in a lifetime, so enjoy ...

Bravo, Don! Globetrotters are downright awesome. I wanted one bad till I got my Safari ('69) but I'm happy now. Got a shower and all that good stuff and, what a treat, I get to rebuild a bath completely! (The only way to really make it YOURS is to rebuild, improve, perfect, I've come to believe.) This site will be your ultimate resource in your renov and you'll get to (virtually) meet some fantastic, generous people who will help you to a degree you never thought possible. I truly look forward to the day when I can shake some hands of my online mentors/buds. Those days are coming, there are many rallies in my future!
If yours has already been in photo shoots she must be a beauty! Post some pix, dude, so we can drool over her. As a working photog myself, it was a major motivation for me to get one I can use in my work, both to work OUT OF and to put in photographs. And on a related note, I just posted my rebuilt website tonight (must be the season for REBUILDING) and couldn't resist the impulse to mention my FAVORITE WEBSITE, along with a photo of the lovely "I Are Smart" Stream in Disney World:

ENJOY!
