A new hobby - Airstreaming

Hi All,

We were shopping for a used trailer a couple of months ago, after selling our second class C RV. We had decided that being able to drop and go without everything, once we reach our destination could be an advantage for local site seeing.

So we we shopped for any trailer that was less than $6,000 and shorter than 24', which landed us in the older trailers (that were few and far between). In my ever widening search after driving 800+ miles in the last month looking at prospects, we found a 24' 1976 Argosy, for almost half of our budget. It turns out it was on e-bay and our first ever e-bay purchase, with the aid our 17 year old son bidding for us remotely after looking at the trailer locally.

A week later, last weekend in fact we went on our first camping trip. We had a great time, with one minor exception, the bed in the front wasn't very wide or comfortable, but all in all, we are very pleased with our new purchase.

Hope to learn a lot for everyone else and maybe add a thing or two to some of the forums.

Welcome and Congrats!

With all the cases of fraud on E-Bay, it's always refreshing to hear of a straight deal...

As new members, your first assignment is to practice basic and advanced searching, using Tab in blue bar above... You'll find a number of ideas for bed improvements, from re-upholstery with new foam to air-beds underneath to memory-foam mattress toppers.. Since it needs to be a couch as well, it is hard to add plywood "widener", but there are tricks to get a few extra inches of width, depending on model...

Be prepared for minor glitches and boo boo's, and then share them with the rest of us.. Try searching for the "dumb-a**" thread to see all the things fellow members have admitted to, which is a small subset of what we've really done...
