A new Aussie joins the fold

Hi all,

I've been lurking for a few weeks but I guess I can't stay silent for much longer...

We've just bought an Airstream.

We are in Australia and have been on the lookout for a short while now. we are moving to a rural property with a tiny house on it. My partner and I run a business from home (she's a film editor and I'm a designer) and there just isn't room for an office / studio in the house. Hence the Airstream. We plan to fit it out as a studio plus guest accommodation. : )

We just purchased a '74 Tradewind from Sagel Idaho. Really lovely sellers up there who have been so helpful. They have had to receive a shipment from Tom at Perfect Polish and cut keys and post them. Tomorrow the overland transport arrives to pick it up and they need to be there for that. Really helpful folks. They have even packed some kind of care package of local (not-perishable and non-customs concerning) goodies inside for us. American hospitality is second to none!

There are many dramas ahead including reversing this thing down a narrow and very tight winding dirt driveway onto our place. So, I'm gonna be asking your advice sooner or later.

I've started a blog to help other Aussies who might be thinking of doing a similar thing. If there are any out there, get in touch.

Here are some pics to get things moving...

Thanks in advance for all the support.

Best regards,

Matt.

PS I am aware of the patched panel. Considering it a beauty spot : )

If you really have a difficult entry to your property, you might want to consider putting a hitch on the front of your TV (or find someone who has one!) . Supposedly it's much easier to get the Airstream in tight places by "pushing it"

Hi Matt -- welcome to the forums! Looks nice. The patch looks well done from my three-states-away perspective. Interesting target interior on your blog. What? You don't appreciate the 1960s Аэрофлот airline decor that's in there right now?

Best poll I've seen in quite a while BTW... Hope we hear a lot more from you.

Thanks for the warm welcome folks. I feel like I just walked into the bar, shook the snow off and somebody offered me a seat and a whisky before I even removed my gloves! Very nice.

Shelly, that is a great suggestion. I may speak to the farmer next door. I have a feeling he might have a tow ball on the front of his 4WD tractor.

Bob, thanks Yeah, that interior. I think it has to go. Maybe that's a topic for the next poll.

Oh BTW: keys and title arrived today - I think we officially own it.

I have a post about Mark Evans queued up ready for tomorrow. Stay tuned.

Thanks again guys.
