Better Times Ahead

Steve,
I am glad the sun is setting on happier times for you. The AS looks great and I am sure that Duncan will make new memories for you very soon.
When I lost a dear Boston Terrier, I replaced him with a blood brother from the same parents, at the breeder. I even named him the same name but added II. Happy camping

It hurt to read your story. I'm so glad you were able to find room in your heart for a new friend. So many people deny themselves the company of a new dog because they don't want to pain of losing that dog down the road someday. You have made two wise moves. Duncan and the Airstream. Both keepers.

Welcome to the airstream family. Sympathies on the loss of your beloved lab and may your new pup - Duncan fill the void in your heart and allow you to smile.

Enjoy your new trailer - I look forward to hearing more of your experiences.

New trailers are made everyday, they are things that can always be replaced. I am so sorry to read of the loss of your wonderful lab. You will always have the memories of your adventures and travels.

Duncan is such a cutie!!! He has some big paws to fill and a legacy to follow. Enjoy your new adventures together in that beautiful Airstream. There is a bright new star in the sky guiding your way.

Mary

Your new trailer is beautiful! I've never seen this interior. Good luck with your new dog. I have a six-month-old border collie who will someday be traveling with my wife and me. Right now we're trying to prevent him from chewing up our house.

Welcome to the Airstream family!

Behind every dark cloud there is a silver lining, in your case a Silver Airstream and a puppy. We are all happy for you and happy trails ahead.

Probable Cause

I'm reviving this post because I think I may have discovered a reason for the fire in my last trailer.

Earlier in the year my insurance company and subsequent investigational firm called off the investigation because "even if we found evidence of failure it wouldn't hold up in court because we can't prove that the site hasn't been tampered with."

Last week I came across a recall post on this site; Dometic Expands Recall. Since everything was destroyed I didn't know my model or serial number.

Yesterday Dometic sent me a "service contract savings certificate" to extend my warranty for 1 to 3 years. Thankfully they included my model and serial number. I certainly don't need the extra warranty, but I was able to determine that my model and serial number were included in the recall.

The recall states, "A fatigue crack may develop in the boiler tube which may release a sufficient amount of pressurized coolant solution into an area where an ignition source (gas flame) is present. The release of coolant under certain conditions could ignite and result in a fire."

I've attached the only good photo I have of the refrigerator. It's at the bottom of the frame.

Hopefully this will help put a little closure on this unfortunate situation. And if you have a Dometic refrigerator I would be sure to take care of this recall as soon as possible.
