First trip in our new Airstream; traversed US, from home (Southern tip of Texas) to Banff AB CA.* The Grand Lounge was perfect as our sister and brother in law joined us in Banff and we came South all together.
The initial worries about a 24' being too long have faded.* Parking was not an issue at any restaurant, city lot, or RV park we visited.* Having the option of an additional two people joining us for the ride, was great ... sleeping became the RV and a tent for the guys (good memories brought back). *
Quirks *... (I wish is wasn't so).
1.) Video shows the white table centered in the lounge surrounded by the 4 nice captain chairs.* Our new model was redesigned and table will not center with swivel arm style design. *
A great option for us was to take the small table found at rear behind sofa seat which is suppose to be to add height to the sleeping area above your head ( at 5'10" we did not need it there) and it transferred up nicely to the lounge for a better fitting small table for drinks, etc.* We actually left this smaller table there for the rest of the trip and did not use the larger white table at all.
If you have this, try it, you'll like it. *
2.) The large screen accordion designed door is not user friendly to open and close (at all).* We almost always had to use two hands, and plenty of force, to get it opened and/or closed.* If you're holding something in your hand(s), you'll need help from each other or you'll have to set down what you're carrying.* We saw a 2021 19' with the same size sliding door and a "SLIDING" screen 1/2 door.* This seems to be a better option, and I think we'd much rather have that than what we got.
3.* Buying a fully loaded (with ALL the bells and whistles) does not mean you'll be able to access your control panel with your iPhone.* Standing outside the rear of the RV with the screen and/or the shade down, you'll have to go back inside to control them up and down.* Or of course yell at your partner to do so in order that you stay back there ensuring that the screen is going up and down smoothly.* Sure disappointing that Airstream does not give you an option to get the screen and shade down from outside the rear of the unit or better yet, let you control it with the phone you have in your pocket.* It's doable (they say) but I need to add a $1000 module as this bell / whistle is NOT part of the ALL the bells and whistles. *
4.* The other several items were issues (but not of design nature).* Timberline control panel for heat and hot water defective from the get go.* Air leak at the exhaust vent.* Night light in RR that never goes off.* Other minor items which I'm sure are repairable hopefully all under warranty.
Overall Happy for the memories we created and the many I know (LOLA Z) will make for our entire family. *
