1st Airstream 23FB

Wife and I purchased our 1st Airstream on Monday and take delivery this weekend.

We are down sizing (big time) going from a 35' toy hauling 5th wheel to a 23FB.

Now ..............where do I put all the stuff that we used to carry? This is becoming a head scratching headache.

Greeting from the Florida Panhandle.

First off, welcome to the Forums. We're glad to have you with us.

As to your question, we have found that most things that you are carrying around in your Airstream you don't really need anyway. We all seem to carry the amount of junk that will fit in the Arstream.

We are wishing you many great Airstream adventures.

Brian

As a long time boater and aspiring RVer, I have learned that "stuff" tends to expand to fill all available storage space, and then some.

A good mental exercise for me is to think - if the boat were sinking, what would I take?

The list becomes very, very short.

Carry stuff you use outside in the truck and stuff you use inside in the trailer.

For me in the truck are folding chairs, table, tub filled with leveling blocks, extra hoses, cables, BBQ and 5lb propane tank, portable solar panel, future small generator, patio mat, tools, ice chest. I have a pull out rear bumper tray so all my hoses, extension cord, water hook items go in there along with a sewer extension hose.

Inside, clothes, bedding, food, cooking utensils. Still have under the bed available for extra clothes for extended trips.

You may want to get a tonneau cover or shell for your truck.

There is probably more storage in your 23fb than my 25fb.

As others have said, the back of my TV carries the bulk of the 'outside' stuff. The back of the pickup is particularly important on the 23FB, with only one outside compartment on the trailer, and a small one at that. On occasion we'll carry the outdoor table and chairs on the floor of the trailer. Seldom used camping 'luxuries' and sporting goods often get left at home.

Our truck has a folding hard tonneau. You may find a fibreglass topper more practical.
