1971 31' Sovereign International Land Yacht - In Scandinavia

Hi All!

Me and my friend are the lucky ones here in northern europe to own a second Airstream trailer in Finland. It was shipped here in late 2006. This one needs some work before it can be used for camping. I have a 1962 Imperial Crown which we used to tow the airstream home and drove about 250 miles with it.
I joined here to find more info about restoring the airstream and to find some parts for the restoration-challenge.

Biggest problems are missing front window (with frame) and left side window, there are also some latches missing.

All help and advices are appreciated

Markku,

Welcome to the forum. Your tow vehicle looks great and fits the trailer. Regarding the missing windows, I would suggest Inland RV or any other Airstream repair facility, such as C&G in Bellflower, CA.

Are you using a weight distributing hitch?

Bill

ps: My wife's maiden name is Jokela

Hi Bill and thank you!

Actually we don't have weight distributing hitches here in europe. Can you explain how does that kind of a hitch work?

I will send some mail to those companies to see what parts they got. Thanks.

I think the Imperial does have enough torque to move the big trailer, but I'm not actually sure if it's legal to tow such a big trailer with a passanger car here in Finland. You got any pictures of your Lincoln & Airstreams ? Lincoln is with a 460 cid?

Markku

ps.So is your wife from Finland or does she have roots here?

Your photo shows that the axles are shot.

Also, the airconditioner on your Airstream is from a later year than 1971.

If you post the trailer serial number, several people on this web site can identify what you actually have.

Having the proper ID, is very essential when ordering parts.
