1968 Ambassador Air Stream

Greetings. We just purchased a 68 Ambassador Air Stream - I am thrilled - it needs lots of work but we are in no hurry. I've always wanted an Air Stream but it was an extravagance...lo and behold, this one serendipitidly fell into my lap. We own a home in Eureka, Nevada and also Santa Barbara. We're in Eureka now and well saw this lovely lady and found out the history - and we knew someone who lived in it so now her name is Sandy T. after the lady who lived in her once. I'm trying to find out who the original owners were. In 1968, I had just graduated from high school, and knew that folks who owned Air Streams had to be "rich" - so I'm sure that this one has many stories to tell. Is there a way to tell by the serial number or whatever who the original owner was??? I got my title today and it just had name of last owner - anyway, it's now mine! So, little by little, I'll restore it - it's not in great condition but I totally love it and it's on my property - here in the Great Basin! My email address is Bayoutoes@aol.com. I spend part of the year in Louisiana - I write books about the people there - well, I collect their stories. Nice to meet everyone and please feel free to email me! Salud,
Mariana Titus (my husband's name is Richard Baker)...

Oh P.S. I have travelled all over the United States - all over the blue highways - back roads - everywhere for last 30 years...have never toured around in an Air Stream...but if you have any travel questions, please ask! Salud, Mariana T.

Hi Mariana, welcome!
It sounds like you've had an interesting 30 years.
If you like research, there is a LOT of information to be mined here on the forum.
Good luck with the new trailer and your travels.
Dave

Mariana,
Congratulations on finding your gem. We were the second owners of a beautiful '68 Ambassador. We sold it to a lady who was going to park it in Reno, NV as a home for her mother. That was about 6 years ago. It was an International model.

to Desert Stream couple

Thank you for your reply - I appreciate it and the other replies - I'll try to answer individually - I think we'll fix this up and just keep it as a place for guests so if anyone comes to Eureka, Nevada they can probably hang out with us...we are only here sometimes - we live in SAnta Barbara Calif and Franklin, La. This was like a gift and it's really a sweet Air Stream - how do you know about the International thing? Also is there a way to trace back the original owners and where they were??? Thanks folks.

to Fyrzowt - thank you so much for the welcome! I am enjoying this forum very much Dave and am finding lots of pictures - I really wanted to see what a 68 Ambassador looked like inside as the beds in this one have been ripped out. SAlud.
