Question 1967 Tradewind What have I gotten myself into?

New owner of an old Airstream. Both looking forward to the restore and also a bit scared. The husband and I have done no camper restores, just lots of farm and home projects including adding on to our home (turned out fabulous, took years). Oh and our first project was a 67 Camaro restoration, aka the money pit. Our Airstream is very dirty, was sitting in a barn for decades. I need a name for her, maybe Dirty Gertie.
This forum is great. I have read posts form many others in the same boat, or camper, I should say.

Welcome to the neighborhood and congratulations on your 67. The first of several Airstreams we’ve renovated was as much a surprise to us as your 67 is to y’all. Vintage Airstreams were built with a lot of common sense. Renovating a vintage takes a lot of that plus some MacGyver ingenuity. Dive in and have fun.

Welcome to the vintage Airstream hobby from Colorado. My first vintage Airstream project was a 66 Trade Wind 25'. It was a twin bed layout with a old style rear bath. There were quite a few upgrades to the 67 model year. Many folks consider the 66,67, and 68 Airstream trailers unique and desirable. They were the last of the old "twinkie" body style. And the special Corning curved glass windows were extra sleek and special. I bet is your trailer will be worth more properly renovated that you put into it.

Take a look at the Knowledgebase section of these Forums found near the bottom of the Forums page. Click on Tradewind and then your model year. There you will find "project threads" where folks document their renovation progress one step at a time, and ask questions about their trailers as they go. Coloradoup is renovating a 66 Trade Wind and his tread is found there.

Here are a few photos of my 66 Trade Wind. I traded it for a 75 Overlander 27' as I wanted another project. I enjoy assessing, planning, designing, and executing a big project like a vintage Airstream.
