1964 Vintage VIN
Hi, I'm new to RVing and to Airstreams, currently looking for a small, possibly fulltime trailer for retirement. Alternately, use as an office. Will view a '64 Safari on 12-1-07, VIN O41S3212. The airstream.com site seems to only go back to 1966. Can anyone decipher this VIN? I suppose the "O" is for Ohio, and "S" is for Safari. Thanks!

Try here: Vintage Airstream Photo Archives
O = Standard LandYacht options
4 = 1964
1 = Front Sofa (gaucho)
S = California built (if the S preceeded the rest of the VIN, it would designate Ohio)
3212 = sequential serial number.

WELCOME TO THE FORUM, YOUV'E COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE
Here is the vin plate from our 63 Safari.... to the best of my knowledge,the first two #s are the length, the third represents the year
of the decade, T is for twin beds and the tast three would be the production
sequence.

Thanks for such a quick response and clear information. Sorry I started two threads; still getting the hang of things. Looking back at email from owner providing VIN had me concerned that what I originally posted as capital letter "O" was actually a narrower shaped, number "0", which I put in the second thread, but it seems that is not the case. So, this thread is now closed.

Just doing some searching, and found this thread and VIN is only 36 units from mine (041S3176 mine versus the unit MartyK was looking at 041S3122). Since his profile says "currently lookng" I assume he did not buy it.
