Hello,

I purchased a 1962 Bambi two weeks ago, in somewhat of a "needs a bit of tlc" condition. I live in Sherman Oaks, CA, trailer is in storage, waiting for an axle replacement.

Here are some pictures. I have only now realized that I have no pictures of the interior, other than details.

You'll see that some previous owner took out the toilet, shower, water heater and the plumbing has been disconnected. It probably could use a subfloor replacement, but that will have to wait at least till next year.

Kamo, Thanks for the pictures of your trailer. You have the same two doors on the street side of you trailer. Your the only other one that I've seen that way. Are you planning to do a shell off restoration? Or is you floor in good shape.

Eventually I need to replace the subfloor, but we would like to use the trailer in a couple of months, so it's not an option now.

The floor is pretty stable all around, but there are some delaminating spots.

The big things I'd like to accomplish in the next 2 months:
- reinstall a working toilet and waste tank (I don't have the originals)
- redo the plumbing
- replace the axle
- revive or replace the fridge
- redo the upholstering
- paint
- fix small things like locks, windows

I'll take more pics this weekend to show the inside.

Kamo, here are the pictures of the tank you asked for in the PM. This is a fiberglass tank with steel inserts for the toiler attach and the drain system. I doubt that you will be able to get anything that matches this. Unless you advertise on the forum and someone happens to have one. Maybe someone who has modernized. You could have a tank made to fit in the same way. Then use modern connections and hookups. The Bambies didn't have a gray water tank. Some people have modernized there trailers and included gray water tanks. I would suggest a thread asking everyone ideas on how you might update your system. Hope this helps.

Thanks for posting pictures! Cool trailer!

Looks a lot like ours!

If I see correctly... does your heater have a knob at the bottom? If so, could you please, please, please, take a close up photo of the knob and post it? If you have a knob on your heater you may be one of the very few who actually have an original! I have been searching high and low for one... no joy. Haven't ever seen one either!

Take oodles of pictures, and then more. Especially when making repairs/changes. It will really help you as a reference the next time you work on a section! Besides it will give you images to post here at the forum and as we are all nosy busy-bodies and want to know everything about your trailer... we will have our curiousity fed!

Kamo, you can definitely have that tank made. The hard part is goin to be getting or making a shower pan to fit. You could have one of those made out of stainless steel...$$$...kinda cold on the feet too.

welcome to the forum! i'd replace the axle first. get the full deal with new hubs and brakes. i also replaced our wheels and tires, replaced all the running lights and umbilical, and hit the road! that's about all it takes to get them TO the site. the rest can come at any pace! it's fun to see em come together.

of course, i've oversimplified a bit.

We have a man in Sun Valley who did a great job on the upholstery in our 85 MoHo. We got the fabric in downtown LA and he did the rest.

That gives us a good idea of what it should look like! That is a rare item! Does the control seem to have anything other than on/off? Does it seem to have a series of numbers or anything that show increase/decrease temperature? We understand that it is just on/off, but have never seen one!
Appreciate getting to see the picture!

It is a funny knob, no numbers, just on, off and pilot.

I need to take the valve out becasue the safety valve is sticking, so I have to clean it. At that time I'll take some "orthographic" photos and maybe you can reproduce one.
