Hi all! I'm so excited to be the new owner of S/OS #08. My hubs and I purchased this BEAUTIFUL girl from Jaxon last weekend. We drove all the way to and from TX to North Carolina in 3.5 days to bring her home. Just wanted to say hi!

kristiperry,

Well, Welcome to Airforums and congrats on picking up a slide to boot. They are pretty unique.

Feel free to ask or private message the slide community cause folks that own one might have experience on the issue.

Now, look at the calendar can you help set a Slide Owners Society record attendance (assuming we get more than 4) at Alumalina http://www.airforums.com/forums/f47/...-a-163240.html this fall? It ain't that far away mileage wise.

And I think you're the first S/OS membership transfer!

Gary

Oh! That sounds like a lovely trip! I hope we will be able to attend, but I can't say for sure right now. Is there a deadline for signup? I didn't see one in the thread.

Kristy,

Not really. You sign up then show up. No "reservations" are actually made. Pay when you arrive. In the past there is a series of last minute cancellations and openings. Its a former Airstream only park that is now open to all. The parking is rally style, that means side by side. Room for your rig but close to neighbors.

Its got a view of Cesars Head and puts you in the SC Upstate. 150 plus rigs, lots of tall tales and outright BS with some true stories just to mix it up.

30 Classic S/O and ProPride

Hi fellow slide owners! I am in the process of converting from an Equalizer to a ProPride and have hit a bump in the road. The installation instructions say to mount the WD jacks no further than 27.5 inches from the center of the coupler. With my 2002 I can't get any closer than 29 inches due to the propane tanks and cover which could only move about 1/2" forward due to the tongue jack, and that would take significant cutting and welding to achieve.

Have any of you run into this problem and how did you solve it?

Thanks,

Al

Al,

Might do better as a new thread in Towing and Hitches sub forum. And hang on!

I put it here because I thought it might be peculiar to slideouts. There are many using ProPrides with 30' Classics without issues, I think.

I think it is a violation to put same post in two forums so maybe a mod can move it for me.

I've been running an Equalizer for 6 years and love it on my 30' slider. Why did you want to change?

Simpler connect/disconnect was the biggest reason. All the heavy stuff stays with the trailer. I can disconnect and then put the stinger in the hitch whether I am camped or in storage. Stinger is lighter than the Equalizer head.

Absolute elimination of sway, particularly in emergency maneuvers is a consideration, as well. My Equalizer performs almost flawlessly. I get a slight steering input when a passing semi comes even with the hitch. It is toward the lane the semi is in and I can anticipate and correct for it. I have never felt wind push the rig around, nor have I felt a steering input as the passing vehicle's shock wave hits the rear of the trailer.

I also like the fact that weight distribution and sway control are independent functions of the design.

If this fit problem proves too difficult to solve, I'll sell the PP and put the money into disc brakes.
