Here's the weird item, I've been to Poulsbo! a few years ago on a business trip Small world, ever been to SC?
OK, slide rule still out, check the Zero's and the last no.
Hang on, yes I see it, its getting clearer.
Jerry & Mary, you're S/OS#040!
Now, if I could only remember anything special about Poulsbo. Is that the city that downtown is like bakery next to bakery next to bakery? Or ...........
Welcome.

Unlike Gary I've never been to Poulsbo... Have been to Seattle though. Beautiful state, wish I'd been STREMN at the time instead of just driving around in the rental car.
Let me also say welcome to the humble group. We're glad that you were able to join us!
Let me ask just one technical question. Is your Airstream a 2004 or 2008? Not that it matters, just want the list to be correct. Your avatar Trailer Description show's 2008.
Glad your here to go sliding around with us!

Gary I've been sliding around behind the scenes shaking the bushes looking for all that rare Airstream Aluminum! Somebodies gotta keep you busy with that numbering "Slide Rule" thing...
We're up to 40 members now...only a couple more and we'll have half of what was built. How cool is that?
I'll keep working so you can keep that "Slide Rule" making new S/OS numbers!

Please add me and my 2006 28' Safari S/O to the list. We've been full-timing for exactly a year, and I can't imagine life without that extra bit of space.

Well the slide rule is cleaned and greased and the magic no. for Mike's 2006 28' is Drum Roll please, no thanks I'll take a cinnamon roll is:
S/OS#041
Almost half way thru the total according to "what they say"
Nice, FT too boot.
Safe travels Mike.
Gary
My Best 1/2 noted we don't seem to have any Buckeye owners. Hey, Ohio they made them there, get with it!
We're former Ohioans ourselves, but now The Palmetto State.

Put us on the list. We're the original owners of Katarina, a 75th Anniversary 30' Classic LTD with a slide. She's sitting on our patio "campsite."

Somebody light the fireworks, you hit the coveted and potentially correct half way number.
Here we go and it took a Keystone to do it:
S/OS#042
Nice looking S/O and setup.
I just put the slide rule away for today and here we grow again.

84?
Why can't we get accurate numbers from Airstream on how many were built? With a membership list at 42, it shows that we have become quite a large group. I think that it was See More that first told me the number was 84, but I can't remember where he got his information.

I'm friends with the owner of the local dealership. Maybe he has some contacts with corporate who can get that info. I'll give him a call this week.

Updated Group List
Here's the updated list of S/OS members. Growing pretty nicely now. I'll add my welcome to mpawilliams and DEITZ645 thanks for sliding aboard!
I exchanged PM's with 3 other Slide Owners yesterday, an 07 Classic 30', and two 07 Classic 34's. Our group could increase to 45 if they decide to jump on board. Come on down...the slidin's nice!!!
My only day off today. Some work in the yard and I've got an Easy-Start to install in Dorothy's AC unit. I'll try and get some more "invites" to join our Sliding Society out later.
Tom

Jack,
It would be interesting to know the "official total" just for grins and then the population of all AS's then figure out the percentages, rarity etc.
Tom,
I appreciate you keeping the list current and active.
Also thanks to all who have been spreading the word and finding members.
I'm a bit puzzled, working on my rig, I hooked up my new Honda EU3000is and ran the AC. It fired up nicely but 5-10 min later the overload indicator kicked in and powered down. Drat.
Now the troubleshooting begins, reading amperage, might have that soon figured out but getting up to inspect on roof, new territory.

I'm with ya...new territory on the roof. Made my way up there yesterday to see what I was getting myself into. Interior of the AC was really pretty clean. Now it's just figuring out how this Easy-Start get's connected.
You may want to search around on the Easy-Start threads for info on the gen issue. I remember reading some research that was done about various gen sets and what they were capable of providing. Something about how the load would collapse on some units.

Tom,
More to follow but IIRC the 13,500 Dometic runs about 1800W but it was already running and overloaded a 3000W unit. Need amp draw while running I think to really start some fact based diagnostics.
Up on da roof!
Not likely today.

That's what they were talking about... The unit would start and run for a few minutes and then it would collapse and go into overload. Sounds similar to what you're experiencing. I'll have to see if I can find it later.
Funny I thought my unit was a 13.5 too, but once I opened it up yesterday I found the ID plate said it was a 15k unit. Fun stuff!

Slide Out Society Owners Registry
In the early 2000's the 13.5 AC unit was the standard on all Airstreams 27' ft and up. I requested the 15k unit as an upgrade when I placed my order. Since most Airstreams are ordered by dealers for their inventory, they truly have a lot of control over how the trailers are configured. In many cases some dealers were quite aware of the suitability of the 13.5k units in their larger trailers and started placing orders with either dual units or the 15k unit. I know my dealer started order 15k upgrades in many of his big trailers prior to them becoming standard.

Well, the plot thickens. This trailer was sold in FL. That's a hint.
It took quite a bit of searching but finally found the model label and holy heat waves, it has a 15000 BTU unit. Also found 15000 upgrade on window sticker.
My 3000 might have suffered from a power management issue and owner not knowing it has 15000 unit. My converter MIGHT have kicked in and bumped it up by almost 1000W consumption plus 1800~W for 15000.
More testing to follow. More learning too.
