As our units age the interiors get worn and need refreshing from time to time. I've done extensive fabric and foam replacement and some other minor changes. I'm considering tackling some more improvements and am curious if the community might have some good ideas to share as seed thoughts.

Here is a link to a remodel job that was done by Ultimate Airstreams. The final sketch in the photo sequence depicts a a tailgater version they envisioned.

http://ultimateairstream.com/project/custom-slideout/

As the earliest 28' Safari model, mine came with unused space between the slide wall and refrigerator which later models addressed with a small cabinet. I went full width (28" deep drawers) and higher to gain more storage without changing the interior look. The space in front of the lower wheel well shoulder became the bottle holder tip-out.

Here is a link to what I did to the slide's dinette area:

Al,

I have a 2005 Safari 28SO and I installed the hitch with no problem. I did have to drop to the propane line to slide a bracket for towers. Once I installed the towers, I had to reattach the propane line with some additional straps.

Oh, by the way, please register me for the Society.

Reference Information

I was searching the Airstream web site for some S/O information and stumbled upon a file which had manufacturing model data (not actual production #s) regarding trailer slide outs. To summarize, it stated which years slides were built by model/configuration and provided suggested retail base price by model (only through 2007).

28’ Safari slide outs were built from 2003 through 2006.
30’ Classic slide outs were built from 2001 through 2009.
34’ Classic slide outs with dinettes in slide were built from 2000 through 2009.
34’ Classic slide outs with lounge in slide were built from 2002 through 2004.

Suggested Retail Base prices -

Model 28’, 30’, 34’D, 34’L [$ by yr]

2000 0, 0, $75,733, 0
2001 0, $67,494, $76,394, 0
2002 0, $66,143, $73,346, $75,985
2003 $51,280, $67,225, $77,585, $74,950
2004 $51,698, $69,993, $79,793, $82,593
2005 $55,073, $76,153, $86,653, 0
2006 $56,693, $77,973, $88,473, 0
2007 0, $86,233, $98,413, 0

We have the 70th. Anniversary Slide also. Do we have any idea how many of these there are? I also wonder about if the 84 slides that Airstream made include the Squarestream in the 84. Just curious, does anyone know?

The file I read also contained information about motorhome slides; specifically the Land Yacht model. No other slide models were identified. In addition, there was a column labeled "serial numbers" but no entries had been made to help determine how many.

Uh, I'll let you arrange where you want to stick that W.

Didn't one just pop up in the classifieds last few days?

Good luck Richard.

Dave,

Then with your research and our accidental info gathering we may have a large portion of the History of The Airstream Slideout Trailer.

Be interesting to see how many will be at Alumalina this fall.

Gary

This is interesting data. If we are @ 31 members, it is a very good percentage to try to find out where all 84 are. Some may be gone over the years but I am willing most can be accounted for.

Bob,

We'll have to setup recruiter points. Find 5 slider's at 1 pt each and wow, that's 5 points!

Happy Sunday.

I'm not a slider but that is one heck of a fine trailer. Love the 34's.

I saw three slides today! two were on traditional a Airstream and one was on a squarestream. I could not make contact for many reasons with the owners but they are in the Minnesota Airstream park where I am tonight. Just info. These folks may already part of our or so.

Welcome to the society! Great looking rig. Mine was a barn find as well. Good to see one with the same striping, color, and rock guards like mine. I thought I was all alone! Enjoy.....Don

I was about to mention that makes two with the smoke rock guards. We need a side by side shot of those rigs.

Soy,

You're actually S/OS #032 I messed up the / position typing at lunch yesterday.

Glad you got home safely. Your dodge is more that capable for that 34, good rig.

Tires are in the top two heavily debated topics with hitches. Study carefully choose wisely. Many have gone to 16's and frequently Michelin. Nogginsbro just recently. And many with triple axles have done well sticking with 15's.

Study, ask specific questions about these very important tires. Significant debate will likely follow. But you own it, tow and camp with it.

Gary
