I sent my request in as well. One thing to note, the Facebook Page has a hyphen in the name. “Airstream Slide-Out Society”. Thanks for the information. I had no idea this page existed on Facebook.

Slide-Out Society S/OS

Hi Kris (kvt) -

Welcome aboard! Glad you took the bait..err invite to come on over to the Sliding Society. Looks like you got lot's of good info on a new Tow vehicle for your new baby.

Just making a post to the S/OS thread gets you on the membership list. Gary S/OS #001 will come sliding in at any moment and make the coveted official type announcement. He'll get you anointed with a Slider # and all the free bling that comes with membership...oh wait there is no bling. Well you'll have a number and be on the list!

Seriously, welcome to our Slider Society S/OS! We did have a informal gathering AlumaSlider III scheduled for Sep 2020, but this covid thing threw a wrench in those works. We're looking out to Sep 2021 for another try...maybe you'll be able to join us.

Best!

Resale value

We've ordered a 2021 Classic and put our 2004 S/O on the market for a few days before we were inundated with calls. Since our new Classic won't arrive until sometime next Jan/Feb we took it off the market. Maybe I had listed it too cheap?!? Can anyone give me an idea of what price range I should be looking at before listing it again? Our "Escape Pod" is in really good shape and has been remodeled over the years. Thank you in advance.

We're in a bubble right now as the masses resort to other forms of entertainment from the pandemic. RV's, Bicycles, Dogs, PT Lumber to name just a few of the high demand items right now. Real Estate is also booming around us.

If you've got one of these items like a shiny, well kept AS, you'll get a good return on your initial investment. You're not the only one we've seen sell their used to move into new. Older vintage stuff is getting top $$$$$$.

In this market the buyers are willing to pay the price to become an owner. Take advantage of the moment to help you offset that future investment.

Kris,

Sorry for being a bit tardy, did you seal the deal on the S/O?

Slides are unique, add a bit more room and are just darn special. Hopefully Alumaslider IV will come to light next year, don't think I want to re-use Alumaslider III name, bad memories.

Years ago had a late meal at Sierra Nevada up in Chico.

I've been behind the wrong end of a shovel all weekend, and more cussing about a PVC drain that busted yesterday that knock on wood hopefully is now fixed except for the ceiling repair.

Looking for a 28' Slide Out

Hi,

We presently own a 2015 FC 28, rear twin bedroom. My Dear Wife has expressed a desire to buy a 28' Airstream with a slide out (reason being we just built a carport that will only accommodate a 28' trailer. We saw one this past weekend near Erie, PA, and quickly emailed the owner but have had no response and now the listing has disappeared.

I found my present AS on Airsteam Classifieds, but I have a great deal of trouble navigating that part of the website (and I do mean GREAT DEAL of trouble--it is NOT user-friendly, to say the least!!!).

I recalled this S/OS Registry and hope we can find one here that we will want to adopt. (It's either a slide out AS or an SOB.... Happy wife, happy life, you know!!!)

If this isn't the right place to ask if anyone knows of a 28' slide out for sale, would someone place let me know where to look? (We did see one at a NJ dealer site but it looked like it had been rode hard and put away wet, if you know what I mean.)

Thanks,

Joe & Wendy

J&W,

You will have to look long and hard to find your choice. In my experience they tend to sell almost immediately after being listed unless there is a problem with the unit (damaged, etc.). Our records from Airstream show a very limited number of the 28 Safari models made over the years. Maybe someone here is thinking of selling and your post could draw interest. Otherwise, I'd suggest roaming the internet every few days using a search engine with hopes of being one of the first to see the ad for an owner who does not haunt the forums.

Slideout will soon be on the marketon

Joe and Wendy -

I’ve been living in my beloved 2006 28’ Safari with slide out (“La Casa di Latta”) and using her as my home base for the last four years. With the pandemic and changes in my health that make foreign travel all but impossible, I’ve decided that the time has come to sell La Casa and move closer to my children. I expect to be moved out and to have her fully cleaned up and ready for listing and showing by the end of September. I’ll be asking $45,000. If that’s in your price range, and if you don’t mind a short wait, I’ll take photos and send them to you as soon as she’s ready for prime time. I haven’t composed a listing description yet, but will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Best regards,
Mike Williams

Most of the slides I see for sale are 30’ Classics. Sounds like there may be an opportunity for you in the future. Good luck on your hunt for a 28. I sure love our slide and know you will as well if it works out!

I just picked up a 2001 Limited 34' slide with lounge. Its in really nice shape for its age but its got a couple glitches to fix and a really antiquated entertainment system lol.

Congrats that’s a BIG AS.

Can we sign you up as a Slide Out Society member? Owning a S/O is the only requirement.

We’re sitting next to our 30’ right now hoping for a little less humidity but not happening.

Regards

Gary

Sure thing. I just finished going through all the pages and I don't think I bought it from anyone thats already registered. Doesn't look like there are too many Canadians in this particular group. Yeah she is heavy considering our 31' is 4950 dry. This ones a monster but the amount of space is great.

Slide Out Society Owners Registry

From my folding camp chair WW2GURU you are S/OS #111 for a 34’ unit to boot.

Looks like you’ve owned a few already so now you get a few unique slide buttons to push now.

Questions? Quite an owners group here to assist confuse or outright BS with.

Welcome aboard.

Gary

Thanks. Hey so I'm curious about the production list abbreviations. What does "CSA" stand for?

Tom “Streamn” got that data and we’ll see if he has decoder ring for it.

I’m tending a Dutch oven.

CSA = Canadian Safety Agency (or Administration). It is like the US Underwriters Laboratory, (UL) but has the force of law. Products that connect to AC mains cannot be sold in Canada unless they are approved by CSA.
