Blue Ox Sway Pro

I like my Blue Ox but I may have the wrong drop shank because my trailer rides a bit nose up and I have not been able to correct this with the seven hole shank turned upside down. Are there other owners using the Blue Ox who use either the nine hole or eleven hole shank.

Yes. I have all three 7, 9, 11 hole. The nine hole works for the new F250 4x4 which is fairly tall - almost lifted. The 11 hole would work for lifted trucks. I cut my 11 hole to a ten hole. Now it’s the same length as the nine hole but has one extra hole. I am using a Propride now but still have my Blue Ox. I like the simplicity of the Blue Ox. It works well, just not as good as the Propride on my new F250.

Thanks. So you think the 11 hole would solve my problem?

Yes, you can buy an 11 hole and easily cut it down to the same length as a 9 hole if it’s too long. Your Dodge is tall. The 11 hole should work.

Have you considered a lift kit for the airstreams?

I bought the nine hole for my new Ram 2500, the seven hole resulted in our AS being about 3 inches too high in front. I have not hooked it up yet but I expect it to be right on level based on my initial measurements of the new ball height.

A lift will give you extra 3 inches of clearance, just sayin.

I have almost the same truck, 2015 also with rear air. Don’t forget that you can lower the truck an inch or two using the Alt Trailer height switch. I usually do that. I use a 9 hole drop and am level pulling a 30 Bunk.

I have a 2015 F250 diesel. I’m not aware of the trailer height switch. How do I access the switch?

Thanks for the reply. I do use the Trailer Height toggle but it is still too tall for the AS.

Looks like I will be buying the 11 hole shank. At $150 <> it’s a reasonable solution.

I have thought about doing the lift. That will help with those diesel stations having a steep drop.

Do you know which kit works on our trailers.

Trumpetguy, I moved from a Ram 1500 to 2500 and ended up with a Curt 2.5” receiver, 12” rise, 8” drop drop shank and it works great with our Blue Ox Sway Pro.

Hope this helps!
Jeff

I don’t know about the Ford. Ram has a dash button labeled Alt. Trailer Height.

Blue Ox offers two drawbar options...9 inch or 12 inch long. It would seem the 12 inch would help with jackknifing. Any thoughts from the forum members?

I have the 7-hole shank for my 2014 Ram 1500 4x4 pulling 2015 FC25FBT with 1,500 bars ... set up in Pender, NE by Blue Ox. Maybe Chad Luber @ Blue Ox can provide some input ... 402-385-2851. Good luck!

I was waiting to trim the last 1.5” off the shank but didn’t have any trouble on a 2400 mile trip to Rocky Mountain National Park. *The jack foot was down for the photo - it’s normally way above the shank. The 2500 sits 3” higher than the 1500 it replaced.

I can’t honestly tell you about your Blue Ox, but I can tell you that ProPride is absolutely amazing. I personally teach customer service for a living, and Sean and his team are the “Gold Standard “ when it comes to support (before, during and after the sale). These guys are awesome.
