any limit on snow on roof?

My kids are over and staying in our 2010 25' FC parked at our house (have electricity to it); since there is too much snow for them to get to their house. We currently have 2 feet of snow on top of the airstream, and it will continue to snow hard - so I can easily see at least 4' of snow on top. Any issues with that much snow? (and yes it is winterized).

Wow, you got a lot of snow!! We live in Kingston and got maybe three inches.

Anyway, no, I do not think that is an issue with your Airstream. If a 200 pound person can walk on the trailer roof, I suspect your evenly distributed snow load will not be an issue.

If it’s truly 4’, that’s a ton of weight. I would try to brush some of it off…a 550+ cfm leaf blower can work miracles.

I'd try to get some off with a broom or snow rake. Like s1000pre said, that's a lot of weight.

Last year I tried to keep our solar panels clear for the batteries but eventually gave up and connected a trickle charger.

Side note: We're still waiting for our first measurable snow in Northern IL, setting a new record. Crazy weather patterns this year.

If it's dry fluffy snow it's not too bad, but if it's heavy wet snow get as much off as possible. A leaf blower works great! Be careful using any metal tools as you might damage the roof by scratching.

I would be more concerned for the suspension and stabilizers
4 ft of snow is a lot of weight. That’s like adding 4 or 5 inches is water inside your AS

After 17yrs here in the Lake Erie snow belt we've had no sno damage/concerns.

POI I do remove the wheels for winter storage.

we are at the base of Mt Si - so 4 feet is possible, but it did end up stopping and thus, not that bad. I did remove most of it.

Good good. A cubic foot of snow can weigh anywhere from. 1-20lbs depending on moisture content.

8’ wide by 20’ long by 4’ is 640 cubic feet (back of the envelope).

I know that storm Bob. As a fellow WNYer, we've never had an issue either. That particular storm, we were had 7ft on top of our previous fiberglass box trailer. If that trailer could hold up, an Airstream will do just fine. People are more likely to cause damage trying to remove the snow, rather than just leaving it.

Last winter (2021), I had an extended stay in Canada and I cleared the snow off my Airstream almost every day, using a short step ladder and a snow brush. I don't think it is a good idea to allow it to accumulate. Even if the weight is not a concern, it's an opportunity for expansion and contraction to do damage and for moisture and condensation to build up. Why risk it?

btw, if you have people staying in the AS in winter, you best be taking active measures to reduce/eliminate condensation.

I use a snow rake just to keep the solar panels clear. Otherwise I leave it on the rest of the unit.

WE use a push broom or wooden hay rake to pull the snow off after 6 inches. I also don't want the warming and freezing on the roof, the snow melt could find a seam to leak into the trailer.

I can see 4 feet of snow potentially overloading the
Suspension or the stabilizers
I wouldn’t be worried about 2 feet
