It's hard to believe we bought the Overlander about a year ago. One of our first decisions was to have a professional shop do the frame-and-floor work for us. This lead to an ill-fated trip to Beaufort, SC, where we spent both time and money with very little to show for it. In May, we decided to "go in a different direction." The Overlander moved north and into the capable hands of P&S Trailer Service of Helena, OH.

We knew there would be a wait, but we also felt like we finally had found the right shop. Steve and Kevin have been excellent about staying in touch and finally... the day has come. We have... FRAME! (Insert celebratory dance here.)

You will note the work on the hitch (by yours truly) including the Reese dual-cam WD hitch painted classic John Deere green. The rest of the frame will be welded (where necessary) and coated in two coats of POR-15, the miracle cure. The Overlander will get two new axles and a brand, spanking new floor, properly sealed. P&S will do a few other things, but the bulk of the interior stuff will rest on my shoulders. If nothing else, the old girl will have a solid foundation and should roll down the road like a lady.

Steve dropped a note today. We're leaning towards a gray water tank, but no black. We think a composting toilet will work best for us, and for the environment. I'm also leaning towards solar panels to at least trickle charge the batteries. Ah, but for today, just seeing the frame is enough.

Glad to see some progress being made on the Airstream. The frame looks so forlorn just sitting there upside down with no axles. But it sounds like she'll be rolling down the road in style once P & S is finished with her. Then you can have at her and work your magic

Forlorn, Carl, is what my checkbook is going to look like by the end of the year.

Seriously, I don't think anything I do on the old girl will be close to "magic." I'll settle for "not life threatening." We'll work from the back forward. I'm working on ideas for the rear bed. The first priority is a comfortable night's sleep, no doubt. I took my wife tent camping for a few days not long ago. The ground gets a little harder every year.

That is so cool. I love the trailer and especially the vintage. How is the shell suspended. The more I do the closer I am coming to doing a shell off on mine. Fear is all that is in the way, oh yeah and and $$$.
