great find. Many of us have and use our 50 year old Trailers often. With good tires and brakes you can be off to a road trip to start.
Don't worry about axles so much, they are a talking point here. The rubber hardening will affect the ride some but not so much that you cant enjoy the trailer.
Meanwhile you may find plumbing and other issues that will need to be addressed. Sealing the shell with a good quality non silicone sealant is important, especially the vents and seams on top.
We all are interested in your progress. Best of luck to you.

Welcome to the Forums! Hmmm, Grand Funk Railroad: I'm dating myself in that I actually know that band. Oh well. Old age hits us all if we're lucky!

Very very desirable and owned by rock stars, she's a keeper.
Never thought of myself as old until this thread...
Who hasn't heard this song? We're an American band... one of the greatest rock songs of the '70s

I still play and sing Grand Funk songs. Been in my repertoire for a long time, and still popular with the crowd.

I guess I will have to find a few of their songs to play while cleaning this thing out!

maybe a custom sticker that says GF Railroad on it for somewhere on the trailer would be cool. You can get these inexpensively off EBAY.
I have on that says Alan & Shannon's 1966 Overlander on mine

Ok she is towed into town, brake lights and that sort of stuff worked just fine!
Had to put new wheels on as the old ones were toast
Went to plug it in ... tripped the breaker in the garage
I've searched the forums for where to start with electrical on a 67 overlander but didn't come up with much, where should I start ? Are other models in the 60s similar? I'm assuming the trailer was used with battery power for the last several years , I'll have to confirm with the previous owner
Thanks in advance !

Mine does the same thing on occasion, I trip and reset the breakers in the trailer, that usually takes care of it. Check your Circuit coming out of the garage to make sure it's configured correctly. I've had trouble with the bad ground or no ground. If the ground is bad there's a little indicator light on the side of my trailer lights up indicating a poor ground.

Hi
Generic approach to finding out why there is a problem:
First check for dead critters in the panel wiring ... Also be careful. You are dealing with lethal voltages.
Pull all the fuses and / or switch off all the breakers.
Plug the beast in and see if the garage still trips. If so check for things wired past the main panel. Also check the wiring to the panel (like the shore power connector ...).
If it holds with everything off, throw the main breaker / fuse. If that pops check for problems with the panel it's self or defective breakers (fuse outlets are rarely defective, but it can happen).
If you get this far, start bringing up circuits one at a time. My bet is that the 120V to 12V converter is the issue. If it's something else, run that down.
If it't the converter, disconnect the battery(s) and try again. I'd bet it still trips, but maybe not.
I would not try to rebuild a 1960's converter. There are a lot of parts in there that are both past their use by date and long out of production. If it's one of the ferro resonant jobs, the AC capacitor that "resonates" the transformer is a good bet in terms of what to replace first. I've seen a lot of similar supplies die that way.
Once you are past the popping breaker stage, run through and check for open wires. For 110V outlets a simple plugin tester will do the trick. For 12V stuff, a multimeter is a good way to go. The multimeter is also about the only way to go for hard wired 120V stuff like the AC.

Thanks so much - hope to get to it tomorrow, otherwise it will be early next week
I think we have found most of the critters... although I'm sure the deeper we go the more surprises we will find.... Took the cushions out today, I wanted to keep them at least for measurements but the mold/smell was too much to bear.

NO!
Your '67 may very well have Aluminum wiring. The high resistance caused by corrosion of the Aluminum wiring could cause overheating and cause a fire. Aluminum also expands and contracts more, potentially loosening connections.
derf is absolutely right about being especially sure your ground is correct. You absolutely do not want a hot shell, given the strong possibility of Aluminum wiring.

Sitting on the fence as to see what's up with the electrical or going ahead and removing all fixtures and then going into the electrical.
Now that we are at the stage where I'm not frightened anything will unexpectedly scurry across the floor or jump at me I'm starting to see the interior as a project we may want to tackle
Surprisingly I have 3 original glass windows still, 4 are plexiglass
Also, our layout is a bit different then anything I can find online. Our twin bed is immediately to the left of the door whereas in all other models the kitchen is when you walk in on both sides with the bed being on the right side and next to the bathroom.
We also discovered the original beautiful teal flower upholstery hidden behind the new stuff on the panel just above the twin bed.
I'll post some more pictures - they are just on my cell phone right now

Having an Overlander of similar vintage ,we have installed new axles, wheels, tires, an umbilical cord, and replaced all the marker and clearance lights to make it a good tow. Your trailer looks aboht the same height as ours until we replaced the axles.
Of course we have down plenty other like water pump, batteries, and a fridge.
We have been lucky to have no issues with the furnace or water heater.
All in all a bit of patients and some budget and everything will come together.

Replaced the countertop and sink but preserved much of the vintage color:-)

@ Bambitex : nice! I haven't even really assessed our bathroom - it still skeeves me out.
We are in gut mode this weekend - hoping to take everything out, so far we have all the doors out and I've restained them - its amazing what a little sanding and a little stain will do
What we realized we are missing and it doesn't look like it was ever IN - is an oven. Which to be honest, I would rather not have an oven in a trailer anyway. So we have TONS of storage space and the two beds.
Here are some pics, will post more as we go along...
Also - the plastic wheel wells are shot, calling our closest dealer to see what they suggest. That seems to be the only option that I could find digging through the forums

Right up front? I may be wrong, but my best guess is your fresh water tank because I have seen a lot of older Overlanders with the fill spout up front.
You should not have a grey water (sink/tub) tank in this year.

That is your fresh water tank. Mine is the same. You will probably want to add a gray tank.
