The square vent holes originally, in your trailer, had metal covers. Those covers have not been available for years. That cover was called a solardome.
Airstream later cut out the center of those covers, to let light in the trailer. That was so successful, that they did away with the metal covers and went to total plastic covers, to let a maximum amount of light into the trailer.
The rectangular cover is called an astrodome. It never was made of metal, but always plastic.
There are plastic covers that have a thermal barrier built into them, both in white and solar gray, for both the astrodome and the solardomes.
Those are after market and are available from one source. Free gaskets for them are included.
The solar gray lets in far more light, but no more UV than the white covers.
Sewer vent pipe covers are now metal, as used by Airstream for over 30 years. You must use a gasket and screen with them.
The stove exhaust vent cover, is available made with fiberglass, which far outlasts the plastic type.
The reefer vent cover is available made from stamped aluminum, as used by Airstream for almost 40 years.
