Pickin' Her Up Sat.

This Saturday we're headed up to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to pick up the '66 Overlander that we've wanted for 5 years. i've been talking with the PO for 5 years. Each year asking if he's ready and finally this Fall he announced yes. We'll have a ton of questions so get ready.

We really enjoyed our previous trip up when we did the final inspection. The PO's have a beautiful home right on the Bay just south of Escanaba with beach house and all. We will make a weekend of it. Although I can't wait to get the trailer home and get started on it. Between the Overlander and the 1972 Shasta that I'm doing a skin off restoration on, I'll have my winter full.

Very nice. Here's hoping you have some covered, heated, storage for those babies so you can keep working thru the winter.

Barns yes. Heat no. But I do have a torpedo heater that should help.

I'm in Michigan and winds gusting to 60mph. Weather advisory through Friday and snow flurries on Friday. Check your weather before heading out. Be careful and safe travels. And congratulations !

Overlander is a great choice.

Are the brakes, lights, wheels and tires all in good shape -- or are you well versed on the challenges of a "recovery mission". If not, I highly recommend beginning your questions before you move her.

There are some funny and scary recovery stories floating around here.

All the running gear looked to be OK when we inspected last month. PO has camped in it twice in the last few months. Pulled it from MI UP to lower MI. But your warning is a valid one. This is our 3rd trailer. One vintage and one 2012. No matter how many times I pull a trailer I still get flop sweats. I'll let you know on Sunday afternoon.

The PO replaced the water heater this past summer and couldn't find a silver cover for it. We need a new fan in the bathroom and I've purchased some new latches for 2 of the cabinets under the beds. The woodwork is in pretty good shape but it does need some love. Fridge isn't working on gas but I'm pretty sure I can get that going. The furnace is a problem but it's original so it's got to go. We're really excited.

We got the '66 Overlander home yesterday afternoon. She's in the driveway for a week or so just to do some odds and ends then it's off to the barn for a long winter's nap.

Thanks 65. So now the fun begins. All the 110v is working fine but all of a sudden the 12v has taken a dive. The fuses in the trunk panel look fine but I'm thinking the circuit breaker inside is the problem. Anybody know anything about this stuff? I just about enough about electrical to burn the house down.
