New 66 Owner saying hello!

Hi Folks:

I've been away from the forums for awhile but it looks like I'm back. My 75th Anniversary edition 25' Safari was asking for company so I've recently purchased a 1966 26' Overlander in ok condition that I want to restore.

Let me start by saying that I will do almost NONE of the work myself and will be looking for a really good, reputable outfit to do most of the work. Suggestions encouraged...East coast, southeast or Texas/Oklahoma/Arkansas preferred but would also consider Colorado.

First thing I am doing is getting it in tow shape right here on the way Eastern end of Long Island...checking all trailer parts, axles, hubs, wheels, tires etc. Once I am certain it's rollable over distance I'll be looking to work with someone on the exterior and all systems.

Agin...any and all advice appreciated....this is my first rodeo!

Thanks

T

This is one of the more simple things I am doing.... general cleanup. I've cleaned all the spooge on the fan screens and am going to re-apply some sort of lining or weatherstripping. What's best to use?
(This is a BEFORE picture. They cleaned up great!)

Thanks in advance.

Welcome back Beer Snob. Are you aware of Colin Hyde in upstate NY? He does extensive AS restorations. He's active on the forums and should be easy enough to find. I got my axles from him last year and was really pleased. He's a good guy. Really busy but a good guy. Good luck.

I did extensive work on a 66 Trade Wind, one size smaller than your Overlander. I sold the Trade Wind and I'm working on a 75 Overlander now. Here is a photo of my beloved old Trade Wind. I liked that trailer.

There are several restoration shops in the northeast area. Being from Colorado I like to mention Timeless Travel Trailers in Wheat Ridge (Denver suburb) They do very high end custom work on old Airstreams.
