I worked polishing my door also. I used Diamond bright and a cloth pad on the end of my drill. It is working pretty good also. I just figure just keep working it over time and it should come out. I will breakout the Nuvite and my Dewalt buffer and hit it.

Your door is looking good

A local welding shop put a 1/8 steel plate under the entry step floor area where it was weak from lack of support. Plenty of support there now! Pix coming

Brian- the door looks better but I am afraid to take it down futher into the metal and ruin it. I am ok with the shine, and already had the maintenance monster that was our mirror shined 31 footer. That thing needed re-shining every month to keep it up.... a spray bottle of car windshield cleaner handy at all times.

a/c In the window

I tried this out today..its 90+ here. Got it to 78 degrees in an hour.
Mounted in the window as I had seen others here had done...
The unit is 40 lbs, and runs on low amperage. Pretty quiet too.
I have 4 mil plastic sheeting around it, will velcro that to the window trim.
Total invested 60 bucks. Looks like a winner for me.
Guess the warm air blowing down on the LP tanks is ok? Hadn't had a boom yet..

does your '66 have a roof top unit?
I have also seen the portable A/C units (on wheels). The warm exhaust is ducted out a window; you might be able to find a more permanent placement with a model like that. Just an idea.

No roof top ...this method is for temporary use, we don't camp all that much in summer. As a teacher we get off in late May and go back in early August.

I'm not sure how they used to do it in the 'olden' days! I can cook bacon on the counter in my AS in the summertime! lol!

That seems like a fairly common solution. I have seen that done on many vintage units

Alan:

I really enjoyed seeing your trailer this past weekend. It is really nice. We get off in Late May and have to go back the last week of July this year. I better hurry up and get the trailer packed. When I started in education we got out at the end of May and didn't go back until late August.

Nice meeting you and your wife in person! Hopefully you can make one of our rallys soon.
Last night at 8 the temp outside was 85 in the trailer it was 70. The plastic sheeting wraps well around the a/c unit, and seems like it will work well.
My wife doesn't want to look like trailer trash though LOL!!
Now all I need is an awning, next on the list. Then a hot water heater.

I can say this I sure like the 66, it is a great old unit with a fine layout for us. I debate whether to put the bunk back in and use it for some storage...

Lakeside Camping

We are enjoying the lakeside camping at Lake Russell's Richard Russell State Park this weekend. Having incredible weather, warm days cool nights low humidity for a Georgia June.

I highly recommend this small State Park if you have any kind of boat to bring- kayak , canoe, etc. The lake is as gorgeous as ever....fish were jumping but not on my line. LOL

Remove cabinet?

The Overlander has a cabinet over the bed, that in mine had some water damage from an older leak. I found the ash veneer to apply, but how do I remove the cabinet? I see some small screws in the kitchen wall, i would appreciate any advice on pulling it out. If I could accomplish the nene ear within in I would..

If I remember correctly, each interior component was bolted to the ceiling/wall, plus bolts that run facing forward. In other words, for that cabinet, there were screws coming into it from the closet that is rearward from it PLUS screws from inside of that cabinet into the kitchen wall.

Clear as mud...
