I'll start off, although others surely know more than I.

From your photo:

I = International trim level

27 = 27' long ball to bumper which is the Overlander

9 = Would signify a 1979 model year

J = Built in Jackson Center, Ohio

Here is a link to the Airstream Inc webpage that decodes serial numbers. I can't make out your photo entirely, there seems to be missing digits in your serial number tag.

Hope this helps. Front, back, sides photos would be helpful.

I would expect a T or D in the VIN to define the bed layout. I believe that this is a 1969 Overlander because the Production Sequence Number is only 3 digits. In 1979 it would have been a 4 digit number.

The most significant intensifier on the 69 model is the front wing windows. The windows in 1969 have 3 square corners while all of the 70s wing windows have 2 square corners

Thanks everyone for the help. It seems based on the windows as mentioned having 3 square corners it would be a 69.

Yep, that is a 1969, the only year with those style windows. My son has a 69 Globetrotter 21' with the same windows. Replacement ones are hard to get.

Yes 1969, but apparently a typo on the serial number where they left out the "T" or "D". Rare, but I've seen similar SN anomalies before, since they were stamped by hand. I do not believe that Airstream added a second plaque with the serial number and weight information near the front streetside corner until 1971, so no double checking there. There may be a facsimile Warranty Certificate glued to the inside of a closet door that could be checked for the "T" or "D". The serial number might also be stamped into the tongue of the trailer. They did this some years, but I am not sure which ones.
