Finding the VIN#

I was given what I was told to be a 1968 airstream overlander. But looking through old pictures of the airstreams in thinking it maybe a 1966-67. Now it was given to me with no title. I'm looking for help locating the vin #. Can anyone help me?

There should be a plate near the door that looks like this:

The VIN # is embossed there in the center part above/below the "Land Yacht" portion. If you post what it is, someone here can help decipher it and clear up what you have.

Congratulations, regardless of what it is!

That is it and you should be able to determine the year by looking here: http://vintageairstream.com/photo-archives/

Thank you. Is it safe to post such numbers here to get someone to help me understand the number?

Yeah, probably. Or you want to do some digging on your own, here is a good site with a lot of information.

Thank you so much. Looking at the pictures I'm now sure it's a 1966 overlander

Andy from Inland RV (California) would be a candidate to assist with your VIN#. He used to work for Airstream.

The best way to find out how much of a hassle you will have getting a title, go to DMV.org and look up your state. You will be redirected to the state's website to help you find the information. Getting a new title when you don't have the original can be time consuming and gets expensive. You will also want to make sure your state doesn't require a safety inspection before you can obtain said title. That's a requirement here in Texas (for trailers over 4,000 lbs.) which means all signals, brakes, break-away switch etc. have to be working properly. On a trailer already with a title, Texas gives 30 days to get the inspection done and transfer the title. It's also required for registration every year.

There was nothing up front. So I decided to build a J shape seating area. The dinning table lays down to make a bed just short of a queen. Under all seats there are storage areas. I removed all of the old copper waterlines and replaced them with CPVC. At this time I am unable to carry fresh water due to my old fresh water tank has been broken off at the outlet. (12"x12"x3') I'm still trying to find another to replace it. I've got everything working with the exception of the oven.
