Smile Day 1 - 1965 Overlander 26'

Hello fellow Overlanders!

Quote:
I am now a proud member of the Airstream club.

It's my first official day as an Airstream owner and I'm obsessed with watching YouTube videos about everything from Electronics, HVAC and Cleaning.
My first task is to learn as much as possible before I start fixing her up.

Very gladly, I welcome all advice, cheers, suggestions and useful links. Her body is in great shape, my last task will be to polish her up but my first will be electric and learning how the fuse box and all electrical works.

-Jen

Jen, congrats! Hope all goes well with the refurb of your new trailer. Enjoy the State of uninformed optimism😉 We have a 1966 24' Tradewind. We are doing a shell on almost "full Monty". It's exciting to make plans and see progress. I'm definitely not an expert but there are some great resources on this forum. We initially thought that we would just do a cosmetic upgrade but as we got into things it was more needy than we thought so . . . We gutted it and started the whole deal. We just finished some floor replacement, new ac install. We are have quite a bit to go. Welcome to the forum and enjoy the process! Valarie

Welcome to the Forum.

No better place to find answers to your questions.
Checking the electric system as your first challenge is a good place to start.
This era of Vintage trailers may have aluminum wiring. This is prone to oxidation, loose connections and the inevitable burning outlet when you least expect it, as I found out on my '67.
Plenty of good threads on how to identify and repair these concerns.

Good luck,
Tom

We just purchased yesterday

We just purchased our first fixer upper yesterday as well. We have looked for over a month.

Sold our 2013 motor home and are making a drastic change for the better. We both like fixing up stuff and the motor home served its purpose. Now it is time to get further "inland" away from the crowds.

This place is has a load of resources and will help you spend your money

Welcome! I just got back from a 10 day Girl's Trip with my new-to-me Overlander and it was great! The space, the practical layout and wonderful natural light made it a wonderful trip. Enjoy your new adventure!
Our repair/reno is ongoing, and we've been camping anyway. She is in the shop now for a water heater (original one is scary to me) and hoping to get the fridge to stay lit on propane, along with a new striker. That will conclude this year's work, since i am out of money now. LOL.
