1968 overlander window removal
all,
had a productive day today removing the window channel/hinge piece that holds the curved window glass. many thats to bruce(68 TWind)who has extensive knowledge restoring the 68 model - he guided me thru the process and i thought it would helpful for others to view photos of the process since it is a hard one to figure out. what is especially difficult is when a previous owner uses an epoxy glue to install plexiglas as a replcement - the glue was like metal and i had to use my heat gun and a heavy duty scraper/hammer to break the bead once it was heated up - the photos below show the process and hope they are helpful.
there is a small angled piece of aluminum trim on both top corners that holds the channel piece into place - in order to remove the channel these angled pieces must be removed - the channel is then lifted in the up postiton and should slide left or right - i had to slightly bend up the small trim piece that is riveted on the trailer in order to gain enough clearance for the channel to slide out.
