What are you using to cut out the aluminum pieces? Your edges are very nice.

Thanks, Mark
Mark ,I use 3003 h14 .063 for aluminum. The stretcher is giving me problems with the inside curve in a 3/4” flange . Tried a 3/8 and worked fine . May try a 1/2” and see what happens. . Might stretch a little and anneal the 3/4 , but that’s another day . I cut that panel out of a piece to use the rest for the electronics , best wat to store was to cut it out and put in place . If I use the 3/8 or 1/2 I will go at it with a lap from the bottom like the backsplash .

Mark , all the tools I used for that piece are these . The electric are for ruff in , they scratch the Al. , but are fine for steel . This is a small amount of the cutting tools I have at my house . The deep throat s/s .
This photo of the different radius are samples . You can see the problem I was having . The one painted black I did about 8 years ago . Used heat and a wood block . And touched up with the s/s . Have fun .

The throatless shear has been on my short list for a while. Next project I will find a place for it and maybe the shrinker - stretcher. Thanks - Mark

Finished up my instrument panel this morning. Polished on it for over an hour when I caught an edge and it flew across the room . Took another hour to get it back in shape and hit it with scotch bright . Doesn’t need to shine it’s behind a door . Just need to clean up a few thing and wire in the radio and speakers . Then I’ll listen to something besides the voices in my head . BlueClick image for larger version

Voices in your head? Oh oh! That might not be so good. I have the same trouble.

Your "entertainment center" looks great. Crank it up to replace the voices in your head with music stuck in your head. Next thing you know you will be singing in the shower.

My friend helped me install a stereo in my Overlander. He had an old amplifier and a pair of old speakers. I got a cheapie radio and the thing works pretty good. I'm sure yours will work better judging from the looks of the thing.

back to work

Been a while . My wife’s 99yo father passed and we have been out of town the last 2 1/2 weeks getting things taken care of . He was in his own apartment till 6 days before he passed .

Got the wireing done under the dinette, just need to tie it up and make it neat . Everything works although I haven’t tried the solar collectors yet . The switch in the compartment turns off power to the power front lift and the power for the disconnect brake switch . Will tie up the loose ends and finish the lines to the water pump .
Hope to get cushions ordered in the next two weeks .

Condolences on the loss of your FIL. Even when expected, it's still a shock in many ways. We became the "Senior generation" when my mom passed away 8 years ago.

It sounds like your wife's father had a wonderful life on this earth. Now he will have even a better one. Cherish your memories. We too are the grandpas and grandmas in our family. Egads!

You're making great progress on your 67. We too are going to build a dinette in front of the Sovereign we are working on. But we won't have the fancy electrical system you have.

Cut 6 doors for under the twin beds out of 1/2” Baltic birch . Cut in latch holes and sanded, primed them all yesterday . Today I painted the inside area and hope to do other side tomorrow. The little stuff takes for ever , but I did go on a three hour drive in the hot rod this afternoon. Better than watching paint dry .

The doors look great. Gee, my Overlander has roll up plastic and fabric tambour doors under the bed. They are very light weight and still work, so I left them. I wonder when Airstream started using tambour doors instead of hinged wood doors for the cabinets. And I wonder when they quite using tambour.

Wish I had a hot rod to blast around in. We didn't make Bonneville last summer, but hope to next summer.

Been a while since I’ve been on .lots going on with the family and some ot stuff .
Got the lower doors mounted with all new hardware. Made one of the cabinets into a drawer for my wife’s breathing machine. Has a plug in the back .

Also made the upper doors , painted , and mounted . I have one more upper cabinet to build that goes over stove and sink . Still working on the design.

Got the drawers built for the kitchen and sealed . The big one is for under the microwave, it will hold pots and pans . It got a 3/8 bottom layer in .

Also got the tv mounted but I’m going to raise it up 2”

Wow, what a quality renovation Blue! You and Atomic 13 sure have the design and fab skills to build a beautiful vintage Airstream. Drawers, doors and cabinets in general are hard to build and look good.

I noticed the bulkhead walls in your photos and wanted to ask what material you chose to build them. I'm sure you told us maybe 150 posts up there somewhere, but I'm too lazy to research for it. We have 6 bulkhead walls to cut in this Sovereign project I'm working on.

David all the bulkhead wall are original or replaced with new wood of the same size . The wall with the TV on it is 1/4” birch ply. Since I eliminated the closest there and it is the one side of the pocket door I reinforced it with a 14g C that is attached top and bottom solid , and to both walls .The bracket for the TV is screwed in to the C and very strong . I am going to move it up 2” though . The C is also the stop for the door . Got some work done today and will post latter . Blue

So I got the drawers mounted with 100# full extension slides . Got my drawer fronts cut and routed out . Also got the door for the closest fabled and fitted . Just need to drill the drawer fronts for the latches and fitted . Maybe I will get to paint them this week and mounted . The bottom compartment under the drawers is hinged down to hold can goods .
You would think since I live 60 miles from the border in occupied Mexico , Texas , that I could find a maid . LOL . Blue

Looking good, Blue. Drawers and their slides are important. Get it wrong and you are stuck with a frustrating headache. Looks like you did it right. Also, the shop floor looks just right for two steppin’. Better take your gal for a spin.

Holidays slow things down .

Well haven’t got a lot done with the holidays and cold , 18 this morn . That’s cold for here . I did get the drawer fronts and closet door painted and put togeather . On the drawers I used a marine latch . The clean little button is cool . When closed. Push the button in and it’s latched . Whenever it’s time to open push the button and it pops out and the lock comes down . The button turns into your pull . I like it . Need to redo one of the fronts as I’m not happy with the paint . A few adjustments and that part is done . Also got the closet finished out insid and the heater t stat installed. Maybe by mid February I will be done .
Hope everyone has had a great holiday so far .

You are a very good cabinet maker. What will you do when you finish the "Big Fix?" Maybe work on that vintage truck you showed us.

Happy New Year to you and yours.

Built the upper bulkhead that goes between the two upper cabinets out of the cutout from the sink . Finally decided on how I want to build the cabinet above the sink and stove . Got all my drawings of the vent a hood done . Built the frame work for the cabinet and trimmed up the spacer that goes between the backsplash and hanger for the cabinet . Started doing the polish on spacer .
Got an email today from the cushion co. , and they will ship on the 16th . I think I can see the end . Blue
