Where to purchase 5/8" plywood?

Hi Folks,

I'm replacing some rotted flooring at the door and frig vent area.
It is only 12" wide a couple feet long.

I have been to Lowes.
They do not sell 5/8" plywood only in particle board.

I purchased a 3/4" 2 x 4 sheet of oak plywood.
Will this work at the door?

Greg

Go to a "real" lumber yard. Lots of cabinet grade 5/8" out there. Darol

Hi yo' Silver. Hope you're enjoying the Forums! 3/4" is probably more than was in your Overlander. A lot of these were built with half inch -- wear & drying make them seem closer to 7/16" by now. 5/8" isn't far off the mark. I found some fairly solid veneer layers in a 19/32" underlayment at a local lumber yard that worked -- thicker than original. You'll have trouble deviating from thickness if you attempt to slide it in all areas of the perimeter. Janet's Husband & I had various conversations that don't match your situation exactly here and here. Try this thread too.

5/8 plywood

I bought 5/8 sanded b/c ulx (exterior grade glue) plywood from Lowes.

As someone pointed out, not all stores carry all thicknesses. I contacted Lowes at the phone number on their website They told me I can order it on line and have them ship it free of charge to my local store for me to pick up.

So that is my fall-back plan if I need more plywood and the local store runs out. I found the 5/8 b/c ulx plywood to be reasonably good and has less voids in it than I expected. Just be sure to stay away from the "sheathing", it has too many voids. By the way, while I keep referring to 5/8 as the thickness, it is actually sold as 19/32 because they sand off 1/32.

5/8 " plywood

Greg,

I second going to a "real" lumber yard, that's where I got mine no problem. I didn't need a whole sheet so they sold me a small leftover section. If you need even more specialized selection then check out this place The Wurth Wood Group They have a store in High Point.
