Well, here we go...

Well, after a few months of getting my head wrapped around the idea I pulled the rear bath out this weekend to replace the floor underneath. Overall it went pretty well and I took pictures and made some extensive notes which I hope will tell me what I'll need to know when re-installing. What I found wasn't good though. I knew the rear crossmember was going to need repair but I also found some major rot on the main beam which runs from front to back underneath where the black tank was. I have a friend with the necessary welding skills and I'm sure he'll shoot straight with me, but I figured I'd also come to the experts for some opinions. This is the first time I've posted pics so I hope you'll be able to see them.

Your pics look fine. Talk to your welder friend. 2 options, repair or replace. Sometimes it's easier to cut out a whole section and reweld a new one in place. How does the right hand side frame member look?

Luckily the right hand side is fine except for a little surface rust. My welder looked at the same pictures and although he said he can't say for certain until looking at it in person, he thinks there is enough good steel to work with. I'm a little more encouraged today after speaking with him. Thanks for the reply.
