Vinyl flooring tiles in a vintage ?

What would are opinions on the flooring in a vintage Bambi ? I understand the original flooring was a product called Marmoleum. I haven’t been down to Home Depot, but it’s my understanding, Marmoleum is still available. I have done a frame-off, so it’s an empty shell, but not doing a strict “restoration”.

All options are on the table.

I used a one piece vinyl flooring by Lonseal called Lonmarine. Looks like a yacht style pinstriped hardwood, but they have many other patterns and options. My friends have had this product in their vintage rig for years without issue. Hoping I have the same luck. Check out my thread for pics of my install.

Actually, if the "original" tiles in a Pre-1964 (vintage) Bambi are 9"x9" - they are not Marmoleum. They are VAT - Vinyl Asbestos Tile.

Marmoleum is generally a sheet product, although currently, they do make some 'click tiles' in 12"x12" & 12" x 24" tiles. VAT/VCT manufacturers changed from 9" x 9" VAT to 12" x 12" VCT when they were required to remove the asbestos as an ingredient - the 12" x 12" size originally was intended to indicate it was asbestos-free. Marmoleum is a 100% natural "green" linoleum product generally made from linseed oil, pine rosin, wood pulp flour, cork dust, calcium carbonate, and natural pigments & has a jute backing - not vinyl. It goes way back before modern vinyls & plastics were invented.

We've installed Forbo Marmoleum in both of our Airstream restorations (1964 GlobeTrotter & 1956 Safari) and absolutely love it!

Looking at changing the flooring in our 2004 Safari slide-out. Currently there is carpet in the area where the slide comes in, as well as the floor in the slide. We would like to change all the flooring to a vinyl flooring. Has anyone changed the floor where the slide moves in to vinyl and if so, how has it held up?
