I also ask Tremco how do you read the dates on the tube's and this was there reply:
on the plunger or on the case, it will be a letter / number, i.e. A/10 would be Jan of 2010.

Finished the belly pan today except for around the tanks, that will be the very last thing that I do, probably will do some local camping before closing off to test for leaks. I used 5052 0.04" on all of the belly pan, will go with 0.032 on the next restoration.

When you have a belly pan that looks that good, you really should have a way of turning the trailer over, so people can see it.
cheers,

Looks great!
What made you decide on .040"? My understanding is that .025" is the stuff to use for belly pan material.

Thanks, the suppler is very close to the house and all he had was 0.040 at a good price. 5052-H32 has the highest strength in the NON-heatable alloys, has higher fatigue strength than most alloys, excellent corrosion resistance, and has excellent workability.

Since my hot water operates on both gas or electricity and after talking to friends that have the same heater decided to go only electric.

Excellent work!!! Did you make those end belly wraps using the originals as templates or free hand from scratch? I am going to need to make new end belly wraps fr my '55 Safari and don't have complete pieces to work from as templates. It is a bit intimidating, but if you got those that nice without templates I will be more encouraged that I can do something almost as nice.

Thanks Joe, yes, I used the old templates as a very rough guide, highly recommend electrical shears as shown in the below picture for fine tuning cuts.

I am hoping to get ready to start replacing exterior panels and bellypan on my '55 Safari during our July shutdown. I might be interested in borrowing your "templates" if they have not been thrown away (not sure how usable the remaining pieces on my trailer might be). I might also like to talk to you about how you did your bellypan replacement. I can't remember - did you also replace some exterior skins? If so, I might like to talk to you about that too.
Great work!

Sorry Joe but all of the old belly pan has been trashed, not replacing any of the outside panels.

FanTastic fan
Replaced the front Hehr vent with a new FanTastic fan from http://www.vintagetrailersupply.com/Fan_Tastic_Fan_p/vts-414.htm and from a distance you can't tell the difference. The 55 year old sealant was in very bad shape, had to be a source of leaks, will be replacing the other 2 vents.

Toastie, you are all about stealth when adding the modern into the vintage... I have been told that the original Herh cover fits over the fantastic cover. I have not tried it yet, but saw it on this forum.

Thanks,

Thanks MarkR
I saw no need to use the foam or there screws, used Olympic Bulb-Tite Rivets. I was very liberal with the trempro 635, used paint thinner to clean up the excess trempro.

The central air will be a challenge. Yes, the old Hehr cover will fit over the Fantastic cover, but in my case will just add a good coat of wax to the Fantastic cover every year. To keep that old Hehr cover looking good would require compounding and I just don't know if the Fantastic can handle the torque from the compounding.

Painted the floor and will finish putting the rest of the interior panels up, polish to mirror finish, then a second coat of paint.
