Should I close in frame rails?

Good day. I was looking under the hitch of my 87 Sovereign and saw the open ends of the frame rails. I guess it has been this way for decades, but something makes me think I should close in these ends......thoughts?

When we were renovating our 55 Flying Cloud I wondered the same thing. We did a shell off renovation. I modified a cheap garden sprayer and fed the hose into the frame member and sprayed some Por 15. Then I closed up the frame. I didnít want moisture getting in there and rusting. Good luck

Thanks fellow Hill Country Texan! My thought was to close them in, just didn't know why they wouldn't have done that when built. Regardless, great suggestion and I'm going to do it.
