OK, don't mind me ...

... except I'm confused ... it looks as if the insulation (what is it, anyway) is wrapped around the edges that need to butt up against each other, which would cause a soft gap. What am I missing? Do I need to go back & re-read the whole thread?

Nah, the insulation is cut square off, even with the sides.


Even if it were to stick out (the fluff, that is) by an inch or so, when the sheets are butted up against each other, the 'glass will just compress a bit. Makes for a more-airtight gap.
