Shell reattachment problems

Just put the shell on repaired frame new floor over the weekend. It went better than expected although from mid curb side to rear curb and street side the old glue line isn’t lining up with the c channel. Any suggestions? We have tried a ratchet strap and maybe got a millimeter more. Doesn’t seem like any of the shell is hung up anywhere. The floor is level side to side and front to back. Thank in advance

Greetings from Colorado and welcome to these Forums. I'm sorry to say I don't understand your problem. I can say you are certainly not the first to have problems reattaching the body to the frame and subfloor. Did you repair the frame? Did you replace the plywood subfloor? I don't understand what a "glue line" is.

Maybe someone more knowledgeable than I will chime in and help you out.

David

We just went through that same issue with a 63 Bambi. We were also level. The frame will flex. We jacked up the rear at the center of the bumper. I eased the rear up by an inch or so. When we had the shell where we wanted it, we installed clecos through the shell into the C-channel then released the jack. The shell stayed in place. We also did that to our 55. The frame relaxed down to level. Just a suggestion. Good luck

I’m assuming the glue line means the interior sealant they use to seal the buck rivets from the inside?

Yup that the sealant from the original bond. Didn’t clean it up to use it as a guide. Thx for the info !

It’s a repaired frame and new floor. The glue line is where the shell originally met the c channel. Some type of caulking obviously not glue poor choice of words

As noted if you want to use the old channel lines/holes gently experiment with a few jacks under the frame rails and you'll be able to watch adjustments in the alignment of the channel to the body. For example, putting pressure from a jack under one corner of the rear may affect the opposite corner at the front.
