Self-tapping screws

Saw these at lowes today. Is this what people are using on their floor fixes?

I found OEM identical screws at Fastenal... They had the little wing cutters that slightly oversize the bore through wood since the self-drilling bit in the end of the screw is undersized to allow the self-tapping in metal function to operate; the little wing cutters snap off when they contact metal. Worked very well...

The dark master,

I used them but I do recall at least one or two not making it and snapping off. I then predrilled a little smaller. They work decent You pretty much need to buy $100 worth of every size machine screw at variable lengths and put them in a carryable organizer and call it good. 1/2 way through my project I'm like Dude I'm tired of not having the perfect size right next to me. So I did this and loved it. I also burned through lots of dilrill bits. Get lots of those. It's only money! Cheers Ted

I recently used those to re attach some metal skin on the underside to the frame. I like those things alot. I do suspect they will rust though.

I tried some out today installing a steel fire door in my sisters office. Works pretty good! Will use some on the AS in the near future

They are a good choice for attaching to steel

I have used them or different brands throughout my frame restoration. I have had good success drilling attaching wood to a steel frame.
